Alt Shift Collective Q***r community for women & theys of color — esp. Black qu**rs. Events, mutual care, & connection. We’re not asking for space, we’re commanding it
📍NC

Alt Shift Collective is a Durham-based initiative centering black q***r women and nonbinary people of color — through community-focused events, intentional experiences, and future resource-building. We care about how people feel in our spaces — not just how they look. We’re not chasing visibility. We’re building community. We’re here to shift the energy — because we’re tired of being left out of spaces we helped build.

NO SHADE looked real good on y’all.

A few moments from our 1 Year Anniversary Cookout celebrating one full year of Alt Shift, community, connection, good food, good music and creating the spaces we deserve.

One year of Alt Shift.

We celebrated our 1 year anniversary the best way we know how, in community, with our very first No Shade Cookout.

Thank you to everyone who came out, showed love, and celebrated with us. Huge shoutout to our volunteers, Community Care members, DJs (DJ DESiPHER smilezzthedj) , Grill chef TROYA , Bull City Ciderworks, and everyone who helped bring the day together.

And a special thank you to our board members Sandy , lex 🤍 , and barbara for keeping Alt Shift going, growing, and creating space all year long.

One year down. So much more to come.

Bring your laptop, planner, unfinished project, job apps, emails you’ve been avoiding… whatever you need to lock in and handle 😂 Coffee + snacks will be available!

Spots are limited, so reserve yours through the link in our bio!

Last night reminded us why Alt Shift exists. 💗

Thank you to everyone who came to our Open House, asked questions, shared ideas, and showed up with open hearts. It was so special meeting new faces and reconnecting with familiar ones as we shared what’s next for our community.

We’re excited for another year of building intentional spaces, meaningful events, and opportunities to give back. This is just the beginning.
