When you truly trust the processโฆ
I first saw Augustine two years ago as a freshman walking the halls at Hillside High. I immediately saw a sprinter. I stopped him and asked if he played any sports. He said football and soccer. I asked what position โ thinking RB or DB. He saidโฆ kicker ๐
.
I asked if he had ever run track. He looked confused, then said, โNo sir.โ I told him, โCome run for me, and Iโll turn you into a scholarship-worthy sprinter.โ
Freshman year? He runs 52 in the 400m and 12.0 in the 100m. Nothing special on paper โ but the work ethic was different. He never misses hill workouts, always in the weight room, always doing extra. In fact, Iโve had to pull him back at times. He told me, โCoach, I just donโt want anyone outworking me.โ
Now, fast forward two years. Heโs just wrapped up his junior year โ 10.57 in the 100m, 21.51 in the 200m (both school records), All-State, and All-American at the USATF Junior Olympics.
๐ฅ The work speaks. The grind is showing. And now, college coaches are calling.
Congratulations Augustine. Keep building. Enjoy this part of the journey โ visit schools, study programs, and when the time comes, make the best decision for you. Youโve earned that right.
