Today, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. 🇺🇸🎀

This Memorial Day, we extend our deepest gratitude to the service members, veterans, military families, and survivors whose strength and sacrifice continue to inspire us every day. ❤️

At Sisters Network Inc., we remember those we’ve lost, celebrate the courage of those who serve, and stand in support of our heroes both in and out of uniform.

We honor. We remember. We are forever grateful. 🌸

Chapter President, Portia Hedgepeth, VP Shirley Duke and member Veronica Wease were invited by Deandrea Newsome, Regional Manager, State Policy & Advocacy with Susan G. Komen Foundation to attend the North Carolina State Advocacy Day in support of House Bill 297. In short, House Bill 297 will eliminate or minimize out-of-pocket cost for necessary diagnostic and supplemental breast imaging required to determine the need for a biopsy or rule out breast cancer after a mammogram.
SN Triangle members along with other survivors and advocates from across the state met with NC Representatives to lobby for support of HB 297. Portia spoke as an advocate during the press conference. A similar bill has already passed in 32 states. North Carolina has yet to pass a version of this bill. As we honor Dr. King’s legacy on , we are reminded that the fight for justice includes the fight for equitable health care. Breast cancer disparities continue to impact Black women at higher rates, making awareness, access, and advocacy more critical than ever.

Raising awareness is part of the work. Fighting for health equity is the mission.
