NAMI at Duke University NAMI at Duke members and officers now fervently work on over 45 key projects to benefit the mental health of its affiliated undergraduate community.

Duke NAMI (National Alliance for Mental Illness) seeks to provide a community space to engage in peer support, discussion, advocacy, education, and public awareness so that individuals and families affected by mental illness can build better lives. NAMI, the National Alliance on Mental Illness, is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to building better lives for the

millions of Americans affected by mental illness. NAMI at Duke is an on-campus branch of the national organization and was recognized by Duke University as an official undergraduate organization as of late September of Fall 2015. In the brief period since official recognition, NAMI at Duke has rapidly grown to more than 600 members, nearly 100 executive officers and has been lauded in the Huffington Post for organizing several impactful events focused on overcoming the stigma associated with mental illness at Duke university. NAMI at Duke consists of a Chief Executive Branch of 7 cabinet members in addition to a Sub-Committee Branch that includes 82 senators. Outside of the executive board, NAMI at Duke is supported by 527 official undergraduate members. Chief Executive Branch:

Threshold is a rehabilitative program for adults with serious mental illness in Durham that focuses on facilitating personal well-being and community involvement through meaningful work and relationships. Ali will be talking about her experiences as associate director at Threshold and about opportunities for volunteering!

Former president Tatyana Bidopia (Class of 2019) will be talking about her experience as a researcher for Duke Psychiatry.

We'll be featuring all types of art, including writing, poetry, photographs, visual art, and pretty much anything else, so if you have something you've made that reflects your thoughts or experiences with mental health, please consider submitting! This can be completely anonymous if you'd like.
