Westminster Presbyterian Church - Durham, NC

Westminster Presbyterian Church - Durham, NC Westminster Presbyterian Church (PCUSA) is a vibrant community of faith seeking to "do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly" in Durham and beyond.

It has a rich history of supporting local and global missions, and nurturing people of all ages in Christian education. During worship, we rejoice in the Spirit in a relaxed, family atmosphere filled with glorious music from our chancel choir. We encourage anyone looking for a church home to join us this Sunday! In November 2016, the Session of Westminster Presbyterian Church adopted the following

Welcome Statement:

"Westminster Presbyterian Church welcomes all to participate fully in the life of the church. Jesus, in his life and teachings, acknowledged all persons as wonderfully made children of God, each equally worthy of God’s unconditional love. So, striving to follow Jesus, we welcome everyone, with affirmation and celebration, praying God will draw us into deeper relationship with each other and with Christ as we worship and serve together. If you have known the pain of exclusion and discrimination in the church or in society, know that you are welcome here.

At Westminster, ordination of church officers and member weddings are celebrated as acts of the Holy Spirit at work in the church regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation." Learn more at www.wpcdurham.org/about/welcome/

FACT: There is no state or county in the US where a renter working full-time at minimum wage can afford a two-bedroom apartment. Skyrocketing rents, low wages, and a lack of tenant rights have produced this startling phenomenon. Brian Goldstone’s gripping book follows the lives of five families struggling to remain housed in Atlanta. Join Chris on Sunday morning to discuss the book, our country's affordable housing crisis, and how people of faith are called to respond and help.

Hey, we know that smile! 😊 Congratulations to WPC's own Nancye Bryan for an amazing 30+ years of advocating for our neighbors who need help with housingπŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ She's been a blessing to so many in our community πŸ€— Thank you, Nancye, for all you do πŸ’™

Not every CASA home makes the headlines. But each one changes lives.
Bryan Place in Durham brought 16 permanent one-bedroom apartments to people who have experienced homelessness or live with a disability. 50% of those apartments are home to a US Veteran.

Named in honor of Nancye Bryan β€” longtime CASA Board Member and affordable housing advocate β€” Bryan Place is a testament to what's possible when community invests in its neighbors. We are continually grateful to Nancye for more than 3 decades of caring for our community.

We are thrilled to welcome former WPC youth director Rebecca Mattern back to Westminster for her ordination as a Minister of the Word & Sacrament in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She has accepted a call to be the pastor of Jonesborough Presbyterian Church, founded in 1790 and located in Tennessee's oldest town. Rebecca writes, "I am excited to live into God's call to be the solo pastor, and grateful beyond words for the many years and people at Westminster that have acknowledged, shaped, and supported me, and my journey to ordained ministry." All are invited to her ordination on Sunday afternoon -- be sure to stick around afterward to hug her neck and wish her well at the reception in her honor πŸ™πŸ«ΆπŸ’™
