In honor of World AIDS Day, December 1 2019, ERUUF is hosting panels from the NAMES Project AIDS Memorial Quilt. Panels will be on display Wed 11/27 - Mon 12/2.

And in partnership with Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina (AAS-C) ERUUF is hosting the following activities:

Toy Drive - Sun 11/3 - Sun 12/1
Food Drive - Sun 11/24 - Sun 12/1
Reception - Sun 12/1 in the fellowship hall after service
Free HIV/AIDS/STI testing - Mon 12/2 10am-1pm and 3pm-7pm

ERUUF is displaying 24 panels from the Names Project Memorial Quilt; additionally, five new Memorial panels, created by members of ERUUF, will be shown.

We are also partnering with the Alliance of AIDS Services – Carolina (AAS-C) to help promote their mission of serving “the community through compassionate, nonjudgmental support, education and care for the prevention of HIV/AIDS/Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI). As part of this partnership with AAS-C, ERUUF is joining in a Food Drive for AAS-C food pantry and a Toy Drive for distribution to the children of AAS-C families during the holidays.

As a “thank you” to the ERUUF community, AAS-C is catering a reception for us on Sunday, December 1 in the Fellowship Hall after the 11:15 service: all are welcome. Assorted appetizers, hors d’oeuvres, desserts and beverages will be served.

We are also exploring the possibility of partnering with:
LGBTQ Center of Durham and the Affordable Community Residence Association of Durham whose mission is to provide diverse housing options, compassionate care, and access to collaborative support services for persons living with disabilities and HIV/AIDS so they can thrive in the community.

"Belonging to and aligning with a community is a stronger drive than absolute truth about one’s beliefs."

What we humans believe has always been shaped by the group we identify with. In the age of filter bubbles, the habit of looking to our tribe for all the answers may be escalating.

Hey Ya'll, one of my students sent me this link today: http://www.poconlineclassroom.com/. It is a great online resource called POC Online Classroom. They have a lot of free, downloadable material on racial communities and identities, white supremacy and empire, prison, police and state violence, intersectional feminism, self-care and more!
