We provide trauma-informed legal services and promote just policies and practices throughout North Carolina. Access to stable housing, food, transportation, and medical care are primary determinants of overall wellbeing. We equip our clients to overcome legal obstacles to these and other necessities, including physical safety, legal status, employment, education, social services, and reunification
with family. We believe that how we provide legal assistance—not just the legal services themselves—holds potential to promote restoration. Since 2011 we have been at the forefront of efforts to integrate principles of trauma-informed care in the legal profession—safety, trustworthiness, transparency, collaboration, empowerment, and choice. This commitment shapes every aspect of our work, from initial communication with a potential client through case close. Our clients are our neighbors and represent the diversity of ability, age, ethnicity, gender, race, and religion in our community. We have served clients of over 65 nationalities, ages 4-72. We are honored to provide legal representation and together call North Carolina home!
