Self-Help Credit Union, Florida Region Jax Metro merged with Self-Help Credit Union in 2017. We were founded then, as a cooperative, to do just that- help local people with their finances.

In 1935, employees of Jacksonville, Florida’s electric & water cooperative formed Jacksonville Utilities Employees Credit Union and later Jax Metro to serve the city’s port, water, & electric workers. Jax Metro Credit Union was established in 1935 when a few local utility employees formed their own financial institution to help each other. Fast forward to today, nothing has changed, we are still p

assionate about helping local people. We are now a Division of Self-Help Credit Union, and looking forward to better serving our members through this division. We also shared resources available to help, including our Credit Builder Program and Secured Credit Card for those looking to establish or improve their credit, free FICO® Score Reviews to better understand where your credit stands and what may be affecting your report, and free financial coaching for one-on-one support with budgeting and financial goals.
