Yesterday, I had an incredible opportunity to partner with Durham Public Schools to address one of the most pressing challenges facing education today—chronic absenteeism.
We engaged in hard, honest, and meaningful conversations about the root causes affecting student attendance. Rather than pointing fingers or playing the blame game, we focused on listening, understanding, collaborating, and identifying practical solutions that can make a lasting difference for our students and families.
Real change happens when schools, families, community organizations, faith leaders, and stakeholders come together with a shared commitment to the success of every child.
I’m grateful to Durham Public Schools for creating space for these important conversations and for allowing me to be part of the solution. Together, we can remove barriers, strengthen relationships, and ensure every student has the opportunity to thrive.
