What rhymes with Burban Bolklore and puts on killer poetry slams right here in DURHAM? That’s none other than ‘s own Urban Folklore! Their push to celebrate artist stories made Urban Folklore’s application an easy pick for Durham AF’s monthly $1000 grant. Congrats y’all!

Give it UP for the latest $1000 grantee, lead by the indelible Jasmine Mack. We loved how this project had a clear goal of what they wanted to do with DurhamAF’s grant and had an inspiring plan of where they wanted to take things into the future. Congrats y’all!

Heyo heyo! We’re super excited to announce our recent DurhamAF winner, Dress to Impress from ! Their mission to help students understand the importance of presenting themselves professionally was one that was hard to argue with and it didn’t hurt that they had an idea of how they were going to use the $1000 DurhamAF award to work towards it. Congrats!

Give us a hamd in celebrating our recent grantee, Durham’s own Running Club! We loved the organization’s track record in doing great work here in Durham and it was an easy project to support given that we knew the $1000 reward would go right back into the community here in the bull city.

Congrats to our recent winner, Griot and Grey Owl and the launch of their 2025 Black Southern Writers Conference! was the people’s choice winner at our recent in-person event and we’re happy to be able to pass on support to the team. The Durham Awesome Foundation is celebrating its first year of giving back, and we’re holding a live pitch event to celebrate!

We’ll be at the American Underground, where 5-7 local organizations will share their work. At the end of the night, we’ll choose one to receive a $1,000 gift to support their efforts. If you’re around, come help us make Durham even more awesome!
