We set a stretch goal…to raise $20,000 for the first time ever. And although we didn’t quite get there, we are excited to share that YOU donated the biggest haul in our 20 events - $17,300! - AND you did it in half the time we usually have (imagine what we could have done in another month).

In the LUEWWDiverse, it is custom to greet each other with a HAPPY LIEWWD DAY!

Today is the day!! Here are the people who will keep the show running - our stage personalities Maya AngelLUEWWD, Lady Trauma, Dustin Reams, Monster Cookie, the Preacher Man, and Dirty (not pictured).

And here is a pic of our handmade prizes that LUEWWD organizer Shevy makes for each and every LUEWWD event! Contestants are competing for Madame Moneymaker (most money raised), Durham Diva (best costume and entourage), Queen of the Losers (sounds like it is), and the LUEWWD XX (the winner).

Sure, we have a bit of fun. We show ourselves on stage. We lip sync. We dance. We bathe in irreverent joy. LUEWWD events are the time to put your money where your…I’m not sure how to finish that sentence, but you know what I mean.

Whether you are wrestling, volunteering, judging, reffing, Emceeing, sponsoring, snatching people’s money, spectating this remarkable event, or dropping your cash from afar (yes, we see you too), it all matters. Your effort counts in supporting the work of these great organizations that are ensuring food access to our neighbors, regardless of where they hail from.

Ahead of this event, LUEWWD’s 20th (!!!), we are so thankful to all of you who have supported these events and our community partners, in any LUEWWD capacity. There are so many issues to focus on in any given moment and we know your pockets only go so deep, so we sincerely appreciate any amount you are able to contribute. Thank you Durham, Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and…Hillsborough (whose local businesses were clearly repping for LUEWWD XX).
