Happy World Mental Health Day! 🌎💙

💙🌎 This World Mental Health Day, we celebrate the power of belonging to change lives! 💙🌎

As an accredited member of Clubhouse International, we know BelongingWORKS. Clubhouse communities foster connection, reduce isolation, and empower people living with mental illness to thrive. Everyone deserves a place to belong.

For our final spotlight, we’re highlighting how belonging comes to life through Threshold’s Work-Ordered Day. Members and staff work side-by-side to complete the daily work of the Clubhouse, build skills, contribute in meaningful ways, and support one another.

In our Clerical Unit, members take on important responsibilities that help keep Threshold running, including planning and organizing our Social and Recreational Events (SRE). From Thursday evening activities to Saturday outings and special events, members help choose what they want to do and take part in making those activities happen.

It’s one more example of how belonging is built through having a voice, being needed, contributing to the Clubhouse, and staying connected to others both inside Threshold and in the larger community.

As we wrap up our BelongingWORKS spotlights, we hope these stories have shown that belonging is not just a feeling-it’s something members help create every day.

Join us and Clubhouses around the world in celebrating today! 💙😃

💙🌎 Celebrating Belonging! 💙🌎

Clubhouses around the world are hosting events and activities that highlight how in everyday Clubhouse life. Here at Threshold, our interns helped make World Mental Health Week special by planning different activities throughout the week based on our members’ interests - from positive affirmations and stress-relief activities to music, games, and time together. 🎵🎯💚

These activities are another reminder that belonging can be built through the simple things: having choices, sharing interests, spending time together, and knowing there is a community where you are welcomed and valued.

And we’re not done celebrating! On October 24, we’ll host our First Annual Harvest Celebration, bringing together current and former members, families, and guests for a day focused on our members, recovery, and community. The event will also mark the beginning of our year-end giving season, including our Member Gifts Campaign. 🍁🎃🎉

We’re excited to keep celebrating what belonging looks like at Threshold - not just this week, but throughout the year. 💙

💙 What Belonging Means to Me 💙

The 32 International Standards for Clubhouse Programs help guide the Clubhouse Model and protect important rights for members. Those rights are a big part of what belonging looks like at Threshold - having a place to come, meaningful work, meaningful relationships, and a place to return.

Kevin talks about two of those rights that stand out to him most: the right to a place to come and the right to meaningful work. He shares how Threshold gives him daily structure and how the skills he practices here carry over into his job at The Angus Barn, which he obtained through Threshold’s Transitional Employment Program.

That is what belonging can look like in action: having a place where you are expected, opportunities to contribute, and work that helps build confidence, purpose, and independence. 😃

We are just three days away from and this year we’re celebrating the power of belonging in recovery. Belonging is at the heart of everything we do - building community, fighting stigma, and supporting mental health recovery.

📢 Share your own story of what means to you, and help us spread hope and belonging.

How at Clubhouses!

At Clubhouses around the world, we see the impact of belonging every day. Genuine belonging in a safe space can help people overcome isolation, build confidence, and reconnect with their communities. In a world where isolation too often defines mental illness, Clubhouses offer a powerful alternative: belonging. Click here to learn more: https://bit.ly/47wZkdE

Here at Threshold, our Culinary Unit is one example of that in action. Members and staff work side-by-side to plan, prepare, and serve meals while building skills, confidence, and relationships along the way.

Belonging is built through the work we do together every day! 💙

Yesterday was a jam-packed day for our Threshold team at the USA Clubhouse Conference! 💙

We started the morning with breakfast and had the opportunity to hear inspiring member stories from other Clubhouses during the morning plenary. Then it was time to divide and conquer for the breakout sessions!

Our Employment Coordinator, Daniella, and Threshold member Alvina attended “From Work-Ordered Day to Work: Creating a Culture of Employment,” where they learned new strategies for getting members excited about employment opportunities and building a stronger culture of employment within the Clubhouse. 💼

Development Coordinator Abby and Threshold member Jessica joined a packed room for “Unit Meetings: The Foundation for an Effective and Engaging Day.” They explored strategies for balancing the work of the Clubhouse, organizing effective unit meetings, and increasing member engagement, with a strong focus on Clubhouse Standard #18. 🤝

Executive Director Elizabeth attended “From Recruitment to Engagement,” where she learned more about recruiting and engaging Board members. The timing couldn’t be better, as Threshold is currently preparing for our upcoming year of Board recruitment! 📋

After a full day of learning, we decided to squeeze in a little sightseeing! 🏛️🛥️ The group headed into Washington, D.C. for a river cruise, where we got to see several of the city’s monuments from the water.

It was Jessica and Alvina’s first time in D.C., which made the experience even more special! 💙

A full day of learning, new ideas, connection, and a little adventure along the way. We can’t wait to bring everything we’ve learned back home to the Clubhouse!
