Our name is derived from a Judy Grahn poem that reads, in part, "a common woman is as common as the best of bread . . . The Chorus began in 1983 as a feminist chorus. We celebrate our heroes, reflect on the personal and political struggles of women and the disenfranchised, and are committed to musical excellence and social change. Membership is open to all woman-identified, gender-nonconforming, a

nd transgender individuals, with a goal of diversity in ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, interests and beliefs.
