Most of us don’t think twice about doing a load of laundry. For some Triangle families, the cost, lack of transportation, housing instability, or limited laundry facilities in their community makes it a real challenge.

Yasini and Josh Carr started Uplift Laundry Truck to help. The nonprofit hosts laundry events with prepaid laundry cards, detergent, and other support for neighbors in need.

New partnerships. A shared commitment to community. 🧡💙

Uplift Laundry Truck recently joined AmeriHealth Caritas North Carolina and Wider Circle in Winston-Salem for our first free laundry event in North Carolina’s Medicaid Region II!

Together with Healthy Forsyth and POSSE, we brought laundry assistance, health services, and community resources together in one place. POSSE provided STD testing and lock boxes, while Healthy Forsyth shared resources such as food, clothing, and shoes.

We also added some fun with hourly prize announcements and a grand prize for their members! Four winners received baskets filled with detergent, fabric softener, stain remover, and other laundry supplies, along with a Food Lion gift card from Uplift Laundry Truck.

Working together, we supported AmeriHealth Caritas and Wider Circle members and welcomed walk-ins, too. Beyond clean clothes, this event was an opportunity to connect families with resources, ease everyday expenses, and build community.

Thank you to all our partners and everyone who joined us. We’re grateful for the opportunity to serve in Winston-Salem!
