🍂🎃 Fall fun is coming to Catawba Trail Farm with Handcrafted DURM!

Join us for a day of community, creativity, and seasonal fun at the farm!

UCAN’s Youth Advisory Council (YAC) will kick off the day with a Farmers Market beginning at 9am, followed by pumpkin sales and painting, farm tours, and other seasonal activities throughout the day.

Come out and get creative, explore Catawba Trail Farm, support our Youth Advisory Council, and purchase $5 raffle tickets for a chance to win a $100 gas card!

Bring your family and friends and spend a beautiful fall day with us at the farm! We can’t wait to see you there!

Dear UCAN Community,

After almost nine incredible years with UCAN, my time with the organization is coming to a close. September 30th will be my last day as I spread my wings and step into a new chapter.

It has been an incredible privilege to help capture and share UCAN’s story over the years. From photographing events and programs to sharing the stories of our volunteers, partners, participants, and community members, I’ve had the opportunity to witness firsthand the people who make UCAN such a special place.

I’m incredibly grateful for every person I’ve met, every story you’ve trusted me to share, and every memory we’ve created along the way. I’ve grown tremendously during my time with UCAN, both professionally and personally, and I’ll carry those experiences with me into this next chapter.

Although my role with UCAN is coming to an end, I’ll always be grateful to have been part of this community and its journey - and I won’t be too far away! I look forward to continuing to support UCAN and the important work happening in the community.

Thank you for allowing me to tell your stories and for welcoming me and my camera over the years. It has truly meant more to me than I can say.

Thanks to an anonymous donor, we’re excited to host food distributions for the rest of the year! 💚

Mark your calendars for the third Tuesday of October, November, and December. Stop by Catawba Trail Farm starting at 9am to pick up a free box of North Carolina produce and eggs, while supplies last.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to support our community, especially during the holiday season!

Thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate UCAN’s 10th Anniversary with us! From our volunteers and community members to our partners, supporters, and friends, we’re incredibly grateful for everyone who has been part of this journey.

A special thank you to Doc Tha DJ, Chandra with 50 States of Freedom, Encore Dance Studio, Poet Laureate James Daniels, and G&L Steppers for helping make our celebration even more memorable! Your energy, talent, and support brought so much joy to the day.

Ten years of growing, learning, connecting, and building community would not have been possible without you. Here’s to celebrating how far we’ve come and continuing to grow together for many years to come!

Create your own painting of UCAN’s historic Mill House while enjoying a light breakfast of coffee, juice, and pastries. No painting experience needed - just come ready to create, connect, and have a great time! 🎨

Tickets are $50 and include all art supplies and light breakfast refreshments.

That’s a wrap on our Summer Gardeners as Teachers Workshops!

We closed out the summer with A Taste of the Garden, led by Brittaney Robinson-Whitenhill!

Participants gathered for a hands-on experience with fresh herbs, learning, and the many ways we can enjoy what grows from the garden.

Thank you to Brittaney and everyone who joined us throughout the summer for Gardeners as Teachers!

And we’re not done yet! More Gardeners as Teachers workshops are coming this Fall and Winter, so stay tuned for upcoming dates and opportunities to learn and grow with us.

Calling All Chili Cooks! Think your chili has what it takes? Bring your best recipe to UCAN’s Chili Cookoff on November 14th at Catawba Trail Farm! Join us for a fun community event while helping raise funds to support UCAN’s work.

All types of chili are welcome! There’s no entry fee for cooks - participants should bring approximately 1 gallon of chili and an ingredient list.
