The Coral Conservancy works to preserve the numerous services and values that we receive from our coral reefs. Whether you love your reefs because they protect your shorelines from erosion and storms, provide ecotourism and scuba diving opportunities, give you food and medicine, or for one of many other reasons, the Coral Conservancy is your friend. Our Reef Defense Systems are the result of years
of scientific research through collaborations with Duke University, Mote Marine Laboratory, and Eckerd College. The results show that our Reef Defense Systems can boost coral reef growth rates by 53%, and prevent corals from dissolving in ocean acidification conditions, another impact of climate change. Thanks to awards from the Edna Bailey Sussman Foundation and the Duke Innovation and Entrepreneurship ChangeWorks competition, the Coral Conservancy will launch its first full-scale prototypes in the Florida Keys during Summer, 2017. This one-year study will provide cutting edge data on our innovative coral conservation approach. Reef Defense Systems will be scaled globally starting in June, 2018.
