Duke Singapore Students Association (SSA) is a chartered Duke organization that represents the Singaporean student community at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. The Singaporean community at Duke comprises a diverse mix of undergraduates, graduate students and post-doctoral students. Current membership stands at about 60. Duke SSA serves two main purposes at Duke – to provide a ‘home away
from home’ for Singaporeans, and to promote Singaporean interests and culture at Duke University. We organize social and cultural events throughout the academic year, beginning with Freshmen Welcome every Fall Semester, celebrations of Mid-Autumn and Lunar New Year, as well as smaller-scale Dinner&Games events where there’s usually hotpot, karaoke, and Senior Night, amongst many other activities. We also participate in large-scale events organized by Duke International Association at the campus level, where we celebrate Singaporean food and culture.
