IBEW LOCAL 553 IBEW 553 was founded on Main Street in Durham, NC and chartered on April 9th, 1934. IBEW 553 was founded in Raleigh/Durham, NC on April 9th, 1934.

This began a grand tradition of Union Electrical Workers in Central North Carolina. Proud to represent workers throughout Raleigh, The Research Triangle and Fayetteville. Thus began a grand tradition of proud union electrical workers in central North Carolina.

This past week, the IBEW held our 41st Convention in San Diego. ⚡️

This Convention saw the election of Curtis Sharpe as the new International Vice President for the IBEW’s 10th District (The Carolinas, Tennessee & Arkansas).
