Want to be a part of Asian Students Association's Converge showcase this year, but you're not a performer? No worries! Apply to be an MC or help us with Converge's annual fashion show.

What are emcees?
Emcees facilitate and moderate the entire show! They introduce the performers with a short synopsis and help transition from act to act through telling an overarching narrative. There will be a script that will be made in conjunction with ASA. They also do fun transitions into acts when appropriate. In addition, you will be involved in creating a promo video for Converge. We anticipate having 2-3 emcees.

Some ~qualities/things~ we are looking for include:
- being comfortable talking to the camera
- able to write a script (with help of ASA)
- act
- time to memorize, film, and model for publicity materials
- stage presence

What is Fashion Show?
Converge Fashion Show is an opportunity for you to show off your traditional and cultural clothing. The Fashion Show will be done via video this year that will be shown during our Converge showcase. Submit a video/image of you modeling your traditional or cultural clothing. You may submit this form to loan clothing, model clothing, or both.

Access the form at tinyurl.com/illuminateasa
The form will be due at 11:59 PM ET, January 4, 2022!

So excited to welcome our new first-year representatives to ASA Exec and Outreach Team!! 💙 Welcome to the family 🤩

Joy (she/her) is an entp-a Slytherclaw from Auckland, New Zealand. We are just as enthusiastic to have her on our outreach team as she is about angry cats!

Nichole (she/her) is a tall-energy exuding infj from Chapel Hill, North Carolina. She loves writing, reading, cherry garcia ice cream, and we can’t wait to have her on our executive team.

Carina (she/her) is an art-loving infj/infp from Cary, North Carolina. Show her a photo of a kitten sleeping on a mac charger and she will be guaranteed to smile. We can’t wait to see her apply her art skills on our executive team.

Thang (he/him) is a leo and enfj originally from Chin State, Myanmar. Please talk to him about Squid Game but refrain from asking him any directions! We are beyond excited to have Thang on our outreach team.

Emily (she/her) is a TV enthusiast, channeling major Cece from New Girl & Hyde from That 70s Show energy. She’s also a lover of book clubs, volleyball, and walks with music. Welcome Emily to our executive team!

A quick update: our pairing form has been released! You can access it at https://tinyurl.com/beanandsproutpairing. It will be due on the 13th.

More information:

We hope that in the past couple of weeks, y'all have been meeting some cool beans/sprouts! To finalize your application, ASA asks that everyone submit this ranking form to guide bean/sprout pairings.

ASA is hosting the Bean and Sprout program, a one-on-one pairing system between Beans (typically first-years, but not always) and Sprouts (typically sophomores, juniors, and seniors). We hope that this program will make it easier for ASA members to make connections and stay engaged with one another. This year, we are assigning 1-2 Beans for every Sprout!

Timeline:
9/25: ROOTing for you
9/29 - 10/9: Kickbacks and Coffee Chats (Sprouts host, Beans signup)
10/2: Pairing Form is released
10/9: Bean and Sprout Application AND Pairing Form due, both must be filled out to be considered and paired.
10/16, 11 AM - 12 PM: Meet the Bean and Sprouts @ East Campus Backyard *this event is required, please email [email protected] if you cannot make it*

For more information and expectations for the Bean and Sprout program, please read our information document here: https://tinyurl.com/beanandsproutinfo

The Bean and Sprout form is closing this week, at midnight on 10/9!! Whether you’re looking for a mentor or just a friend, this is a great program for you to get to know other students in ASA through your pairing and/or garden. Be sure to fill it out as soon as possible so we can ensure you get a match. We recommend completing it early in case we send out other important info like kickback reminders and the preference form. Also, we have added a general information document that you can find at the link below or access from the google form. It has everything you need to know about the timeline, expectations, signing up for kickbacks and coffee chats so check it out if you have questions or need clarification! We’re so excited for y’all to meet your beans, sprouts, and gardens!!

The form can be accessed at https://tinyurl.com/asabeanandsprout & is linked on our website (tinyurl.com/duke-asa)!
