In the aftermath of tragedy, you showed up for your communities and never stopped. You have continued to fight for the LGBTQ+ community, protect access to HIV care, and build systems of support when so many were grieving.

Ten years later, that work continues. Your commitment gives us hope and reminds us what is possible when people lead with love— even in the darkest moments.

Language workers are central to the HIV movement, and the personification of our commitment to human dignity for all. However, the increasing reliance on AI for translation and interpretation, calls into questions what we are sacrificing in the name of cost and efficiency.

National Asian & Pacific Islander HIV/AIDS Awareness Day reminds us of the need for culturally competent care, language access, and visibility for AANHPI communities.

Too often, AANHPI communities face barriers to HIV prevention and care that go unaddressed, including stigma, lack of representation in research and data, and limited access to services that reflect cultural and linguistic needs.

Ending the HIV epidemic means investing in diverse communities & and making sure everyone can get the care and information they need without barriers.

Today is International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia (IDAHOBIT). At a time when anti-LGBTQ+ and anti-immigrant attacks continue to escalate across the South, this year’s theme, “At the Heart of Democracy,” is a reminder that democracy cannot exist when our communities are targeted, criminalized, or pushed out of public life.

However, in the face of erasure, our communities continue to organize, protect one another, and build spaces of safety, care and resistance.

We're grateful to Western North Carolina Community Health Services for hosting us and helping facilitate such powerful conversations.

WNCCHS was honored to host “Our Voices, Our Health,” a community listening session led by Latinos in the South (Latinos in the Deep South) on April 24 that was focused on HIV care, access, and advocacy.

It was an energizing and meaningful gathering, with powerful perspectives shared by community members, providers, and advocates. Conversations centered on real experiences and the many factors that shape health — reminding us how important it is to listen, learn, and respond together.

We’re grateful to Latinos in the South for creating this space and to everyone who participated. Moments like this help guide the work ahead as we continue to break down barriers and improve access to care across our community.

Today, April 18, is National Transgender HIV Testing Day.

Trans communities continue to be disproportionately impacted by HIV in the U.S. Today is about naming that reality and making sure people have access to testing, prevention, care, and support without stigma.
