An Open Letter to Durham…
There’s something pretty special about the Durham Fair.
Maybe it’s the rides, food, entertainment, animals, arts and crafts, familiar faces, and traditions we return to each year. Or maybe it’s the feeling that, for a few days, everyone comes home.
This year, even when the weather literally rained on our parade, our community showed up. We adapted, pitched in, helped one another, supported our local organizations, and ultimately kept things moving.
A very special THANK YOU to every Coginchaug Little League volunteer who gave their time, energy, and sweat to make the weekend happen. From setting up and cooking to serving, cleaning, selling, hauling, and everything in between, you made it happen.
One special thank you goes out to CLLs Fair Director, who put in countless hours to set all of our volunteers up for success. Without her guidance, hard work and organization, we would be lost. Thank you Adrienne Dubuc
We may not have sold all 1,000 hot dogs, but it certainly wasn’t for lack of effort, hustle, or enthusiasm.
Now, reflecting on the past few days, we have one piece of solace, there’s always next year. The only hard part is waiting 361 days for a Herzdog and QuirkyBurg.
And to the incredible volunteers behind the Durham Fair: Thank you for the countless hours of planning, hard work, and dedication that make this tradition possible. So much happens behind the scenes, and it doesn’t go unnoticed.
The Durham Fair is more than a fair. It’s tradition. It’s kids making lifelong memories, it’s old friends reconnecting, it’s neighbors helping neighbors and it’s about strengthening the sense of community.
but most of all, it’s home.
It’s something that should make us all very proud.
