IT'S S⚽CCER TIME in the Bull City! We'll be back on the pitch at the Lakewood YMCA beginning the week of September 12, and there's still time to be part of the fun as a player (/fan) or volunteer coach!

COED: U5*, U6, U7-U8, U9-U10, U11-U12
GIRLS: U9-U10, U11-U12

*U5 division meets once weekly on Saturday for practice + game play; U6-U12 divisions have one weeknight practice and Saturday games.

The Downtown Durham YMCA will be hosting the Y's evidence-based Diabetes Prevention Program this fall. Prevent diabetes before it takes hold.. Understand how healthy eating, physical activity and behavior changes can help reduce your risk for diabetes.

Meet Matt and Chuck, two passionate group fitness instructors dedicated to strengthening the Triangle through wellness, connection and community engagement.

Beyond the YMCA, both proudly serve on the Carolina Theatre’s Centennial Council in Durham, helping celebrate the theatre’s 100th anniversary throughout 2026.

Matt is well known for his infectious enthusiasm and unwavering passion for BodyPump from Raleigh to Durham, while Chuck is celebrated for his high-energy, motivating Durham cycle classes, which are returning soon!

On June 25, Matt and his husband hosted a VIP reception at the Carolina Theatre prior to the American Dance Festival's performance of Pioneer Winter Collective: APOLLO.

Looking ahead, Matt is excited to continue supporting LGBTQ+ groups within the Durham community and hopes to create opportunities for greater connection between the arts and the YMCA. He looks forward to extending invitations to LGBTQ+ supporters, YMCA resource groups and members for future arts-related events that foster inclusion, engagement, and community building.
