Say hello to Emme, our Client Services Coordinator🎉

Emme joined MOWD in May 2025, with a background in nonprofit program management, outreach, and food access work. What's stuck with her most is seeing the direct, tangible impact this work has on people's lives and health.

For Emme, it's about access — helping older adults get the support they need to safely age in place and stay connected to their community.

Outside of work, you'll find her walking along the Eno, reading, or spending time with friends.

Say hello to MOWD's Executive Director, Jason Peace — the latest face in our Meet the Staff series! 🎉

Jason's background is in social work, and he was drawn to MOWD by a love for older adults and their wisdom, plus a desire to give back to the city he was born in.

The work is personal for him. He's watched his own mom care for his grandfather, and he knows not everyone has that support. As Jason puts it, "We help those who are often forgotten about. We help them to be seen."

Outside of work, he's into concerts, yard work, and documentaries.

A big thank-you to our friends at for spending time with us in the pantry this month!

This group jumped right in — prepacking pantry boxes for our seniors, organizing in-kind donations, and writing 100 cards for our produce box program. They also sorted donations for our Pet Program.

Diligent, hardworking, and genuinely lovely to have around — this crew did it all. Thank you, Legacy at Meridian for being great neighbors!

Next up in our "Meet the Staff" series is Quinn, our Mission and Team Support Coordinator!

Quinn came from a background in laboratory sciences before switching over to mission-driven work, drawn to community and caring for our most vulnerable neighbors. What's stuck with Quinn most? The genuine heart behind this team — and the belief that a simple meal and a real conversation go a long way.

Outside of work, Quinn's making music, reading, cooking, taking film photos, walking their cat by the lake, and lately learning to skateboard. 🛹

Meet Tia. 💛

For a while, Tia was doing it all for her grandmother — meals, check-ins, making sure she was never alone. On top of everything else life throws at you, that's a lot to carry.

Then Meals on Wheels Durham stepped in. And suddenly, Tia had something every caregiver deserves: peace of mind. A friendly face at the door. A hot meal on the table. One less thing on her plate (pun very much intended).

Caregivers like Tia are the reason so many of our senior neighbors get to stay healthy, safe, and independent at home. We don't just show up for our neighbors — we show up for the people loving and caring for them, too.

Next up in our "Meet the Staff" series is Chip, our Bookkeeper!

Chip joined the team in August 2022, bringing over 35 years of accounting experience, along with a background in hotel and restaurant management and IT network software training. What Chip's enjoyed most about MOWD is the genuine care and concern staff and volunteers show for our clients, day in and day out.

Outside of work, Chip's in the garden and yard all summer. He likes watching the clouds, the leaves falling in autumn, and everything growing back in spring.

Meet Luke Jovanovic, a May 2026 Duke graduate!

Luke spent his senior year delivering more than meals. Between packing boxes, running route sheets, and greeting drivers, Luke found the thing plenty of Duke students miss: a real connection to the city outside the "bubble." But, he's got one regret — that he didn't find Meals on Wheels Durham sooner.
