Go Global NC

This September, Global NC Executive Director Meredith Henderson is celebrating her birthday by celebrating educators!

In honor of the teachers who inspire our work and bring the world into classrooms across North Carolina, Meredith will personally match gifts made by educators to Global NC’s Impact Fund through September 30, up to a total of $2,500.

When educators give, educators benefit. Your gift will help support Global NC’s Global Teachers program, giving North Carolina educators opportunities to learn from the world, expand their global perspectives, and bring those experiences back to their students. Together, we can help more teachers, and ultimately more students, see the world as a place of connection, opportunity, and possibility.

To have your gift matched and double your impact, simply include “Meredith’s Birthday” in the note with your donation.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Governor Jim Hunt. His lifelong commitment to public service, education, and the global engagement of North Carolina shaped our state in profound and lasting ways. Governor Hunt believed deeply in the power of partnership, international collaboration, and preparing North Carolina to lead in an interconnected world.

We are grateful to be among the many who will carry forward his extraordinary legacy, especially his vision for strengthening North Carolina’s role on the global stage. His leadership continues to inspire our work and our responsibility to serve with purpose, integrity, and optimism for the future.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Governor Hunt’s family and loved ones during this time of loss.

With gratitude and remembrance,The Global NC Team

We join the international community in tribute to First Lady Rosalynn Carter, who was a friend and inspiration to Go Global NC. On a warm afternoon in 1979, Rosalynn Carter came to Raleigh to celebrate our very first citizen exchange. With enthusiasm and great cheer, she congratulated our group of 250 North Carolinians setting off for Newcastle, England, to experience another culture and build bonds of friendship between our two countries. Our founder, Millie Ravenel, and North Carolina First Lady Carolyn Hunt had the privilege of meeting Rosalynn Carter and joined her on stage to launch our work connecting North Carolina to the world.

It was a challenge issued by then-President Jimmy Carter to states to develop citizen-to-citizen diplomacy efforts that led Gov. Jim Hunt to create the Center for International Understanding, now Go Global NC. Still today, we draw inspiration from Rosalynn Carter’s humble demeanor and powerful, open heart in our continued commitment to learn from each other.
