In fiscal year 2026, the North Carolina Biotechnology Center awarded 128 grants and loans, totaling $7.4M to universities, life sciences companies and nonprofit organizations.

The awards, made from July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026, support life sciences research, technology commercialization and entrepreneurship statewide. The funding will also help universities and companies attract follow-on funding from other sources.

Since 2022, 770 students have participated in NIIMBL bioLOGIC, a program that inspires students to pursue life sciences careers. The program introduces advanced technologies, entrepreneurship principles, and education and career pathways into biopharma manufacturing.
