The Durham American Legion and American Legion Auxiliary are putting on a smoked tri-tip drive-through dinner on Saturday, April 25th. Proceeds go to Girls and Boys State, as well as veterans programs.

The Legions of Durham, Post, Sons, Riders, and Auxiliary, are hosting a joint tritip drive through dinner on May 17th!

Tickets are $25 each or $60 for four.

Proceeds will benefit Durham youth through scholarships, Boys and Girls State, and Americanism activities, veterans, and their familes.

Monday September 9th at 7pm at the Memorial Hall, we will be hosting our annual ice cream social with American Legion Post 673 Durham, CA.

The perfect time for dessert after dinner 😉

More important than eating ice cream, we will be honoring our essay contest winners, hearing from our Girls State and Boys State delegates, and celebrating the civic engagement of our young folks.

Our potluck business meeting last night included reporting on scholarships and essay awards, transition of officers, and looking forward to the ice cream social in September!

A special thank you to Pat Gee for serving as President for so many years and Sandy Atteberry as Treasurer and all past officers who have given their time. Without their service we wouldn’t be here today.

Thank you everyone who came and supported!

Approximately 60 Durham residents were present at the American Legion Auxiliary’s annual Ice Cream Social on Tuesday, Sept. 5, when the Auxiliary MC Deena Crete introduced guests and dignitaries. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by Post Commander Rick Farley.

The audience then listened attentively to the five essay contest winners from two different American Legion Auxiliary Essay contest levels at Durham Elementary and High School as they read their various entries. They were introduced by Auxiliary Essay Chair Pat Gee.

Pictured from left to right are Levi Atlas, Gisella Rocca, Lorenzo Rocca, Seanna Cunningham and Samantha McCurdy. If you recall, both Atlas and McCurdy, were winners in last year’s essay contest – with great things expected in the years to come.

Their entries, while they were fifth graders in Mr. McCutheon’s class were entitled “Why We Pledge Allegiance to the Flag.” High school entries by Gisella Rocca, Lorenzo Rocca and Seanna Cunningham are also repeat winners, with Cunningham receiving honors as a district winner.

Now 10th and 11th grade students, they were in Durham High School ninth and 10th grade English classes taught by Tiffany Biro and wrote on the topic “Who Can Achieve The American Dream.”
