What a fantastic day of friendship, fun, and community! 🌟

This week, Durham Academy hosted students from Hope Creek Academy for a special Field Day filled with exciting activities, teamwork, laughter, and new connections. From games and challenges to shared smiles and encouragement, the day was a wonderful celebration of inclusion and friendship.

We are grateful for the partnership between Durham Academy and Hope Creek Academy, which provides meaningful opportunities for students to learn from one another, build relationships, and create lasting memories. Thank you to everyone who helped make this special day possible!

Reps from CANDOR shared their torchlight curriculum with the Independence Academy classroom. They taught and talked about Ableism and led a watercolor painting activity.

Students completed the Watercolor painting as an example of using joy as a form of resistance. Thank you, CANDOR!

One of our students completed his Eagle Scout project and included Hope Creek Academy as the recipient. He donated a flag pole, installed it, and did the brick work around it. A few days ago, the students and staff all gathered round it and the student told us his Eagle Scout was the culmination of ten years of hard work. Thank you, Alex, for this beautiful gift, and for being a magnificent role model to those around you.
