General dentists ready to place implants: SIDE's Beginner Single Implant Placement Course runs November 13 and 14 in Durham.

Over two days, each participant places 1 to 3 implants on live patients, with no more than four participants per mentor. Tuition is $5,500. Registration closes October 23.

Through December 31, a single tooth implant is $2,750 at Local Start Dental in Durham, regularly $4,396. That is a saving of $1,646.

One price, start to finish: the extraction if you need one, the implant, the abutment and the crown. Financing is available.

Book and make a payment by December 31, 2026 to lock in special pricing. Treatment does not have to be completed by then. Can't be combined with sliding scale discounts.

Complete tooth loss among older adults is more common in North Carolina than in most of the country.

That is not really a story about age. It is a story about access.

Tooth loss accumulates over decades of care deferred. A filling put off becomes a crown put off becomes an extraction. Repeat that through a working life spent without dental coverage or without a clinic within reach, and the arithmetic ends the same way for a lot of people.

It is also why the rate is so different depending on income. Older adults living on low incomes are far more likely to have lost all their natural teeth than those who are not.

Local Start Dental exists in that gap. Sliding scale fees based on household income, payment plans, NC Medicaid where dental coverage applies, and donated dentistry covering the rest. If cost is the reason you have been putting off dental care, start with a phone call.
