Good morning y'all!!
Last week, INDY Week ran a sweet piece on Ms. Marcella, the Mustard Seed, and all the good work we've been up to vaccine clinics, food distribution, and more.
We hope y'all will give it a read, and that you'll continue with your support. We need community, and each other, now more than ever.

Your very own Marcella Thompson won the Keeper of the Dream award for Durham, NC!

:: Congratulations to Marcella Thompson for being selected for the 2021 Keeper of the Dream Award. Ms. Thompson is the Executive Director of the Mustard Seed Project.

The Keeper of the Dream Award is a public recognition of individuals, organizations, or institutions for outstanding leadership and/or service to improve the quality of life for all citizens and work toward racial equality, human rights, peace and economic justice for all people.

In East Durham, Ms. Thompson brings neighborhood kids together with fun and food. She started the Mustard Seed Project in her southeast Durham community, mentoring and feeding 35 to 40 kids per day since 2019 on her fixed income.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, Ms. Thompson grocery shops, cooks and packs bags of food for more than 100 families every day.

The Mustard Seed Project supplied thanksgiving groceries for over 200 families this past weekend, but we're doing it with less resources than ever. Check out this video from ABC 11's Tim Pulliam about the difficulties we're facing, and please consider donating to our Giving Tuesday Fundraiser.

Local charities need our help now more than ever.
