Team Tuck Community Cook

Team Tuck Community Cook This is a community fundraiser for Tucker Milligan and family to help ease financial burdens due to a rare disease called Castleman.

Please help us make this a memorable event. On October 19, 2020, Tucker was involved in a rollover car accident as he swerved to avoid a deer. Fortunately, he escaped that accident without serious injury. To be safe, he was transported to Duke University Medical Center for evaluation and testing. Through all of the procedures, the doctors found an unknown mass in Tucker's chest. Over the course of

several months, Tucker has been in and out of the hospital and to countless doctor appointments for additional testing, bloodwork and biopsies. The team at Duke has found additional spots in his stomach and lymph nodes that were of concern. After much discussion, they finally decided to surgically remove the mass in his chest and they sent it to pathology. The results came back and a team of oncologists met to discuss them. Ultimately, they have diagnosed Tucker with a condition called Idiopathic (no known cause) Multicentric Castleman Disease. This extremely rare condition causes his body to continuously grow tumors. While most are benign, these tumors can evolve into cancerous lymphomas. Castleman tumors are treated like most cancers, with surgical removal, chemotherapy and radiation. And, given how rare this disease is, Tucker will need to travel to centers in other parts of the country that specialize in CD to get the best treatment options. The money we raise will help with travel and medical bills.

This is the last post for this community cook and I am excited to report that it exceeded our expectations and we are thrilled with the support shown. I can never thank each person individually on here because I know I write long posts but it would be REALLY long. From donations for supplies, volunteers galore, the courtesy of Oak Grove Ruritan Club allowing us to use the building, to the customers who came, it was a sweet spirit of community.
We are believing for a miracle for Tucker and we ask that you continue to pray for just that because we serve a God who can do immeasurably more than we could ever dream. This cook was a shining example. 🙌🙌🙌

Thanks so much to Laura Moody who manages the Prayers for Tucker page on Facebook for leading our 11:11 am prayer and the crew hit the lines!! Starting this thing in praise already for a bold prayer for healing and intercession plus an anonymous $500 donation through PayPal !! Told you it’s going to be a spectacular day!

Today is the day and it’s going to be spectacular! I think I smell bbq all the way to my house and woke up tasting it. Thanks to Freddy and his crew for staying overnight to prepare it.

In about an hour, Davey Jones and the other guys will be getting the chicken on the grill and the rest of the volunteers will begin set up.

This cook was appropriately named community cook because it has been so many people coming together to stand as one loud voice to Tucker, Allison, Dina and their entire family that we love you and support you. All that is left is for all of you to come get your plate! It’s going to be an amazing day and I can’t wait to hear about the blessings pouring out. From the prep, cooking, set up, prayer and service, it has been bathed in prayer and hard work and God’s favor and to Him be the glory!

A quick note for Saturday volunteers: Please park at the back of the Ruritan near the fence (unless it is necessary to park closer) to allow plenty of parking/drive through space. Also please bring a mask so we can be considerate of others who may be comprised in crowd settings. It will be used on an as needed basis. Dress comfortable and appropriately and be ready for some work! 😉

IMPORTANT UPDATE-PLEASE SHARE!!!!

A door I thought was closed has unexpectedly swung wide open so being the frog lover I am, I am jumping through it and we are moving the cook to be held at the Oak Grove Ruritan Club at 201 Stallings Road. This will allow us more room for drive thru and parking plus alleviate the need for a refrigerated trailer.

All prep, dessert and supplies drop off will be done at Ruritan as well on Friday. More info on that to follow.

I am Fully Trusting On God (FROG)that this is the best decision to get more money for Allison and that’s the ultimate goal plus let her and the family know that they’re NOT standing in the rain alone.

Many thanks to Rollingview Baptist Church for their willingness to share their facilities and standing behind the decision to move the cook.

A late Mother’s Day night thank you to Sandra Wyatt and Sandra Hicks for donating all the mayonnaise and butter plus a donation from Vic & Andrea Oakley. It’s been a whirlwind weekend and it’s just getting started. May your week be blessed.

God has showed out big time in the last couple of days so can I brag? After posting the needs we had, our 14 item supply list went to 4 items left (I did however add 2 more things). Thanks Bea McGhee, Stacy Rowland, Keith & Vickie Walker and Megan Clark for donating. Others are lending their coolers, tents, turkey cookers which will be a huge help but still need several items on that list. Others have added some delicious desserts and more volunteers.

Lastly Angela Bazen who graciously offered to donate all the cabbage has also through a vendor source secured enough cabbage, red potatoes and slaw cups for 1000 plates!!! 😳. Now I have been trusting God to show me what to do as far as a number and if you know me, I have big goals because I serve a big God. Not sure if this is my sign but we will see what happens this next week. I have to commit for meats next Friday so please pray we get a lot of commitments and tickets sold. Wow, I am so grateful!
