SS4S traveled to Vermont this weekend to attend youth climate leaders academy and work on our sustainability goals! Huge thanks to VEEP/NHEEP for hosting, and stay tuned for events!

In the next month we will all be headed back to school! Here are some tips to be more environmentally friendly.

Happy Earth Day! Thank you to all who participated in our different school clean ups. We were able to collect over 15 bags of trash. Every piece helps.

SAVE THE DATE: EARTH DAY OF ACTION ON APRIL 22ND

Elementary School: April 22nd from 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Clean up trash in your neighborhood! Grids will be assigned depending on where you live.

Middle School: April 22nd from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Clean up the different sports fields in Portsmouth!

High School: April 22nd from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm
Volunteer in leading activities with elementary / middle schoolers and participate in the countless other service projects being organized!

Our community will gather at 1:00 pm at South Mill Pond. Bring all collected trash.

*If you cannot volunteer, please consider donating large empty bird seed or dog food bags, yard bags or trash bags.

The Oyster River Sustainability Committee invites you to a community dinner on Thursday, February 2nd, 2023, to enjoy a delicious, locally and sustainably sourced spaghetti meal (each dinner also includes a side salad, beverage, and dessert) at the Oyster River High School cafeteria (55 Coe Dr, Durham, NH 03824).

All are welcome! One bite, and you'll know why our students love their cafeteria so much!

Kindly RSVP at bit.ly/ordinner by Tuesday, January 31st, and let us know of any special dietary needs in the comments section.

Cost: $8 per adult or $20 per family (a family includes up to 2 adults and children living within the same household).

This is a great opportunity to learn about our district's commitment to sustainability, including food waste, food recovery, and sustainable practices such as composting. Presentation by high school students at 5:30 pm and representatives of local sustainability groups will be in attendance (Mr. Fox Composting, Three River Farms, local farmers, ORCSD's Sustainability Committee, etc.). Looking forward to seeing you there!

Over the holidays, SS4S, Inc. embarked on a trail clean-up in Barrington! We’re so grateful to be able to enjoy and protect the great outdoors. Shoutout to Finn Graff, our Programming Director, for setting it up!

Policy Director Loreley Godfrey and Programming Director Finn Graff partnered with at the Leadership Awards Teach-In to talk about how to get youth engaged in sustainability. Their advice? Listen to youth and share your resources!

On September 12 and 13th, SS4S member Kira Bailey, Outreach Officer Finn Graff, and Editor in Chief Jill Covey, held an art show and auction event at the Seacoast Rep. We would like to thank every who came to support. Keep an eye out for more artwork for sale on the website and Instagram!
