When signing up, note that you are signing up for a group of 3 or 4 days. Ideally, you come twice during your sign up to check for watering needs, but at least once is required. Please review the available slots below and click on the button to sign up. Thank you!

Over the last 2 weeks, the volunteers and the kids have harvested a ton of garlic and onions! It's all curing in the shed right now and will be ready to go home with students in a couple weeks.

In other news, you'll notice at drop off on Monday that the pollinator Garden got a pretty significant haircut. This was an accident due to miscommunication. Thankfully they mowed around the young trees and bushes we had planted, so we only lost the seeded flowers. Don't worry though, many of the later blooming flowers are still small enough to have survived it so we should see it come back over the next couple months!

Summer is coming! Veggies are popping up in the garden, and the pollinator garden is starting to fill out. Below, you will see milkw**d that students planted last year blooming, and some of the purple snap peas the students will be tasting this week in the garden.

Thanks for all your support this year!

Shoutout to Ginny Dittfield Dudek and Jocelyn Fogleman (and Ty!) for helping in the pollinator garden this past weekend!! They transplanted some additional native plants from their homes, w**ded, and cut back all of last year’s growth now that all seeds have been dispersed. We are so grateful for all of the parent volunteers that make our outdoor learning spaces possible β€οΈπŸπŸžπŸ¦‹

The pollinator Garden is definitely getting in the mood for spring! First flowers of the season are here, native columbine. They can be hard to see as their flowers are dark red but keep an eye out for them when you go by!

Question: When will you cut back the pollinator garden? It's all brown and dead!

Answer: We won't! Most of the dead plants are just now dropping their seeds, which will become next year's plants. Also, the hollow stems and matted grasses make great homes for many of our native insects like bees & moths to spend the winter and lay their eggs!

Picture: The milkw**d that the students planted last year is bursting forth seeds in a spectacular fashion! Soon the wind will grab these and spread them throughout the garden.
