Neighbors showing up for neighbors. 🏡

Last night, The Novus opened their doors for an evening of community and connection, bringing residents together to support families staying at Harper’s Home while their children receive care at Duke Children’s.

We’re still pinching ourselves. More soon, once we’ve taken it all in.

For now, thank you to The Novus and the Durham community for showing your support. This is exactly the kind of village Harper’s Home is building. 💛

One year ago today, we officially opened the doors to our first families at West Maynard. 🏡

And somehow, in a bit of perfect timing, today also marks **650 nights of free, private housing for six families** who came to Durham while their children received care at Duke Children’s.

650 nights!

A year ago, we were just beginning to learn what it would mean to actually *do* this work. Today, six families have had a private place to come home to at the end of impossibly long days. That means:
a kitchen of their own.
ppace for siblings and pets.
a little privacy and normalcy when very little about life felt normal.

And we are just getting started...

There is so much ahead for Harper’s Home, and we are working incredibly hard to make sure the next families who need us have a place waiting for them.

None of this could happen without the people who have believed in this mission, supported it, shared it and helped us build it.

Today, we'll take a moment to celebrate how far we’ve come.

Now, back to work!

Happy birthday to our Executive Director, Heather Hindin! 🎂

Heather is a mom, educator, and advocate who shows up wholeheartedly for the people and causes she cares about. Her heart and determination are a big part of what keeps Harper’s Home moving forward.

We’re lucky to have Heather at the heart of this work and especially happy to celebrate her today.
