Have you ever wondered how we customize food orders for community partners? Now is your chance to be part of the process! Join us Saturday 5/30 from 12-2pm to sort and pack orders. This volunteer shift will be at the office (1800 Martin Luther King Jr Pkwy, Suite 102) and on your feet. If you are interested in volunteering Saturday, please email [email protected] to reserve your spot! Space limited.

PORCH-Durham is happy to announce our new partnership with the The Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. to support their long-standing CHIPP (Childhood Hunger Initiative Power Pack) program. CHIPP addresses childhood hunger by providing "Power Packs" for children in Durham to eat over the weekend and holidays. Through this program, they provide bags each week for students at Fayetteville Street and CC Spaulding elementary schools.

Starting this month, PORCH is enhancing their food supplies with kid-friendly pantry items and quick family meal starters (such as Hamburger Helper and microwave rice) which help parents get meals on the table during busy weekends. If you’d like to contribute to this initiative, please consider donating those items during your neighborhood collection this month.

We are so happy to deepen our partnership with this impactful community partner!

Last week PORCH-Durham's staff attended the Durham Cooperative Extension Annual Report to the Community at the thriving Briggs Ave Community Garden. We saw many friends and partners, enjoyed a delicious breakfast, heard inspiring stories, and took part in hands‑on demonstrations highlighting Extension's impact throughout the county. Many thanks to everyone who worked so hard to organize a wonderful morning!

Wishing you a happy May - a month where we honor many people who have a lasting influence on our lives.

First up - this week we are honoring our TEACHERS for Teacher Appreciation Week! Teachers play such a critical role in ensuring Durham children and their families have access to food they need to support healthy growth and development, and we are so grateful for your partnership!

And then on Sunday we will honor another group of role models - MOTHERS! To all moms and mom-figures, your sacrificial love is a constant source of inspiration for us!

So hug a teacher, hug a mom, bonus points if you hug a teacher who is also a mom!

We have a last-minute volunteer need this Friday, 2/27 from 8:00–10:00 AM!
We’re looking for a few helping hands to sort food donations, stock shelves, and prepare boxes for food distribution to support our neighbors in the community. Even just two hours can make a big difference in helping food get where it needs to go. If you’re available, we’d love to have you join us and start your Friday with purpose—please email [email protected] to sign up.

Join PORCH-Durham for an evening of Sonder's downtempo grooves, melodic textures, and warm, laid-back rhythms.

Kingfisher Durham (321 E. Chapel Hill St in downtown Durham) will be hosting a food drive on Thursday, December 11th, starting at 6:30PM where PORCH-Durham Board members will receive your donations of non-perishables or monetary donations.

Come enjoy Kingfisher’s craft cocktail bar in the heart of Durham — groove to live music performed by Sonder —And support PORCH Durham’s mission to fight hunger in our communities.
