2007 and 2008: Back when newspapers were still a thing, I made great use of our local paper, the Daily World, in Opelousas, LA, home of the camp I helped form in 2001. I submitted camp meeting and event announcements, letters to the editor, photos of camp events and activities and soon became a regular columnist, always submitting columns related to our Confederate history and heritage and ensuring that the SCV and our camp was mentioned. Here are two such columns bringing attention to President Davis and General Lee on the occasion of the bicentennials of their births. Papers aren't much of a thing anymore, especially here in Opelousas. Regardless, I urge you and your camps, brigades and divisions to take advantage of the media whenever and wherever you can. Especially take advantage of social media to spread who we are and what we do as much as you can! With positive news and information spread in the digital landscape, we can start changing the algorithms that provide negative information whenever someone looks up the SCV or anything related to the Confederacy and our Ancestors!

Wow! Today marks one year since I made my unofficial announcement to run for Lt. Commander in Chief!! My, how quickly time flies! Since that day, I have grown more and more confident in campaigning, having spent thousands of dollars and driven thousands of miles, building my Battle Plan and sharing it with all of you! It has been a pleasure traveling to so many events, meetings, reunions, memorials and the like to share my message with you and more importantly to get to know so many of you and hear your thoughts and concerns. It’s not over yet, though! We have just over a month before we meet in Lexington to vote in new officers on July 18th! I pray that you all have heard my message and what I bring to the table as a candidate for Lt. CiC! I am thankful for all the support and endorsements from all over the Confederation!

I am running to serve all of you and work for the viability and longevity of our beloved organization! Throughout this campaign, I have lived up to my slogan, “Experienced-Energetic-Engaged” and look forward to doing the same should you do me the honor of electing me as your next Lt. CiC!
