The ASH Foundation

The ASH Foundation The event was established to bring together motorcyclists for a charitable cause, collecting toys for children in need during the holiday season.

Based in Durango, Colorado, the ASH Foundation's mission is to increase the quality of life of children and families in need through acts of service, kindness, and financial support throughout the Four Corners. The Iron Horse Toy Run in Durango, Colorado, has a rich history spanning over three decades, originating from the efforts of ABATE (A Brotherhood Active Towards Education), a motorcycle rig

hts organization. Over time, the organization and management of the Toy Run transitioned to the Iron Horse Harley Owners Group (HOG) Chapter. This group continued the tradition, fostering community involvement and expanding the event's reach. In recent years, leadership of the Toy Run was assumed by Trevor and Catie Bird, co-owners of Durango Harley-Davidson. The Birds have been instrumental in revitalizing the event, bringing fresh energy and ideas. Under their guidance, the Toy Run has seen increased participation and community engagement. In 2024, Trevor Bird shared on Instagram, "Congrats on the best Toy Run yet and an amazing start to the new Ash Foundation 501(c)3!"

The establishment of the ASH Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, marked a significant evolution in the Toy Run's history. This foundation, led by the Birds, aims to further the charitable impact of the event, ensuring that the Toy Run continues to benefit children and families in the four corners area for years to come. Throughout its 32-year history, the Iron Horse Toy Run has exemplified the spirit of giving and community solidarity. From its inception by ABATE to its current stewardship under the ASH Foundation, the event has remained a cherished tradition in Durango, bringing joy to countless children during the holiday season.

There are sponsors who support an event, and then there are people who truly believe in the community behind it. Rider Justice is both.

We are incredibly grateful to Rider Justice for returning as the Presenting Sponsor of the 34th Annual Toy Run Before Christmas. Their support helps us continue a Durango tradition that has spent more than three decades making Christmas brighter for local children and families.

And behind Rider Justice is someone we’re especially proud to call a friend of The ASH Foundation: Scott O’Sullivan.

Scott is an incredible attorney, but what stands out even more is the kind of person he is. He genuinely cares about the motorcycle community and the people in it. He shows up, gives back, and uses his work and his platform to advocate for riders when they need someone in their corner. His generosity and continued support of The ASH Foundation mean more to us than we can adequately put into words.

Rider Justice will also have a booth at the Toy Run Before Christmas, so make sure to stop by, meet their team, and say hello. If you ride, these are good people to know — and even better people to have on your side.

Thank you, Scott and the entire Rider Justice team, for believing in what we do and helping us make the 34th Annual Toy Run Before Christmas possible. We are incredibly fortunate to have you as part of this community. ❤️

Why did Catie and Trevor Bird start The ASH Foundation?

The ASH Foundation was founded in 2023 with one simple belief: every child and family deserves to feel supported, valued, and cared for—especially during difficult times.

By partnering with the incredible nonprofits already serving the Four Corners region, The ASH Foundation helps turn kindness into action and make a meaningful difference right here at home.

One of the biggest ways you can be part of that mission is by joining us for the 34th Annual Toy Run Before Christmas on Sunday, October 4. Whether you ride a motorcycle or drive the family minivan, everyone is welcome. Bring a new, unwrapped toy valued at $15 or more, or make a $15 donation, then enjoy an afternoon of community while helping make the holidays brighter for local children and families throughout the Four Corners region.

We hope you’ll join us as we ride, drive, give back, and turn kindness into action.

At The ASH Foundation, our mission has always been bigger than any single event.

Everything we do is rooted in four core values: Compassion, Authenticity, Respect, and Engagement — values that guide how we serve and support children, families, and communities throughout the Four Corners region.

Whether it’s the Toy Run Before Christmas, the Biltwell Helmet Art Show at Four Corners Motorcycle Rally, supporting local nonprofits, or showing up for families in need, we believe real impact starts with people who genuinely care about their community and want to make a difference together.

We’re proud to continue building something centered around service, kindness, and giving back.

The 2025 Toy Run Before Christmas brought together hundreds of people with one shared goal — helping make the holiday season brighter for local children and families in need.

From the ride itself to the toys, donations, volunteers, businesses, and everyone who showed up to support the cause, this event is a reminder of what can happen when a community comes together to give back.

We’re already looking forward to doing it all again for the 34th Annual Toy Run Before Christmas on October 4, 2026 — and making an even bigger impact this year.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support The ASH Foundation and the organizations and families we’re able to help throughout the Four Corners region.

The ASH Foundation is proud to support Volunteers of America Durango and the life-changing work they do for individuals and families throughout Southwest Colorado.

Since 1991, the Durango Community Shelter has provided more than 9,000 nights of safe shelter each year to nearly 500 individuals, including many women and children. As the only 24/7/365 shelter service in Southwest Colorado, it serves as a critical resource for families and individuals working to regain stability and self-sufficiency.

Beyond providing a safe place to sleep, the shelter offers communal spaces and essential resources that help people take the next steps toward rebuilding their lives with dignity and support.

Organizations like this make an incredible impact in our community every single day, and we’re grateful to help support their mission and the people they serve throughout the Four Corners region.
