Chris Braun, AKA Chip, has been with LPYS for over 3.5 years in two roles, starting as the Diversion Program Manager, and more recently, as the Restorative Justice Coordinator. Braun/Chip was a tremendous asset in addressing the inequities that exist in the juvenile justice system, and will leave a lasting impact on the organization. We fully wish Chip the best as he enters a new phase of his life, seeking his infinite potential, and the associated possibilities. We are hiring a new Diversion & Restorative Justice Program Manager! Full-time, with benefits....salary ranges between $58-64K.

The Diversion & Restorative Justice Program Manager’s primary responsibility is to provide leadership, management, and oversight to ensure the ongoing sustainability and vitality of La Plata Youth Services Diversion Program. The Diversion Program Manager will oversee assigned casework, address professional and programmatic concerns, provide direct services to youth in diversion, and support the development and supervision of direct service staff and interns. Additionally, the Program Manager will establish relationships with municipal and district court teams, the District Attorney’s office, law enforcement, and relevant school partners.

LPYS has a new Office Manager, CC Sheldon!! We are grateful to have her join the family...read more about her below 💚

CC grew up in Truckee, California, and spent over 15 years working in the professional performance industry, primarily on the West Coast. In 2023, She relocated to Durango to pursue a degree in Adventure Education at Fort Lewis College and has been loving the new life she's built for her and her dog, Gus. She loves spending as much of her free time as possible backpacking, canyoneering and traveling, and while she has left the professional theatre world behind, she can still be found on stage performing with Blackbird Dance Company and Dance Co-Motion. CC began her journey with LPYS as an intern in the Radical Possibilities program and quickly fell in love with the organization’s mission and community. She is grateful to now be part of the team and excited to continue that work in a deeper capacity.

Tomorrow is the day! Unchain My HeART is rescheduled from the last snow storm for this Friday, March 6th! Despite the slight chance for snow on Friday, we are excited to celebrate La Plata County youth with you all...we are starting to think we should schedule an event every weekend! Join us for a fun evening of art, music, food, and mocktails, with the opportunity to bid on silent auction items donated from 38 local vendors from Allison Ragsdale Photography to Pine Needle Mountaineering, from Hillcrest Golf Course to Gravity Lab Climbing Gym. There are over 75 pieces of art submitted by youth, and all sales go directly to the young artists...come purchase a memorable piece! We are deeply grateful to our amazing sponsors, local businesses, and incredible communities...we will see you on Friday! ADMISSION IS FREE
