URGENT! America's public lands are on the line — and we need you to make a call today.

On Thursday, the Senate will hold a "vote-a-rama" as part of the budget reconciliation process. Sen. Michael Bennet of Colorado is filing a critical amendment—the Public Lands Integrity Act—that would protect your public lands from being quietly sold off through a budget loophole.

Last year, the Senate came within a few votes of using the reconciliation process to sell off up to three million acres of federal public lands—lands that belong to all of us.

Under current rules, that can happen again with only 51 votes. The Public Lands Integrity Act would change that, requiring a 60-vote threshold for any future attempt to sell or dispose of public lands through reconciliation.

This is the first significant legislative safeguard against public lands sell-offs now and into the future. EVERY CALL MATTERS! Tell your Senator to vote YES on the Public Lands Integrity Act today!

U.S. Forest Service research programs help fight back against tree disease and invasive pests, provide important data to land and resource managers, and are vital to effective wildfire management.

But now the White House is trying to slash and burn the USFS FY2026 budget, and eliminate these vital research programs entirely.

Our national forests—and the wildlife and the many local communities across the nation that depend on them—deserve better! Tell Congress to reject any cuts to USFS research programs, and instead give the agency the resources to manage the forests that belong to all of us!

A new report by Environment America shows that many state park systems across the country have lengthy backlogs of repair and maintenance projects that have had to be postponed due to a lack of funds—including critical needs which, if left unaddressed, compromise the safety and ecological integrity of the parks.

The report, "Investing in Nature", examines the value of state parks, the size of the maintenance backlog and offers recommendations to policymakers for how to fund state parks and state public lands.

The U.S. Forest Service recently decided to authorize the use of chainsaws by outfitters and guides in areas of Idaho’s Frank Church—River of No Return Wilderness Area, a move that could set a dangerous precedent for the management of wilderness areas across the country.

Please join the Great Old Broads for Wilderness’ Former Land Agency Affinity Group (FLAAG) and our partners at Wilderness Watch on Thursday, June 11 for a special online event: “Chainsaws and the Wilderness Act.”

We will learn more about why this USFS action goes beyond just chainsaws, and what you can do to halt moves like this that strike at the very core of the Wilderness Act.

The White House is attempting to slash and burn the USFS and completely eliminate the agency’s forest research programs in their proposed FY2026 budget.

Future generations are counting on us to be good stewards of our shared public forests, and these USFS research programs protect trees, reduce destructive wildfires, and keep forest ecosystems healthy. Losing this vital research to draconian budget cuts is unacceptable.

Tell your member of Congress today: Full funding for the US Forest Service and forest research programs is non-negotiable!

The team at More Than Just Parks have built a handy new accountability tool that shows how every member of Congress votes on America's national parks, national forests, monuments, wilderness areas, and wildlife refuges.

"If (the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument) CRA resolution passes, it could devastate the monument, turning it into a place where out-of-control off-road vehicle use, landscape-level clearcutting, and other extractive activities would all be possible.

The good news is that this fight is one that we, together, can win. When we do, it will set a precedent to protect all national monuments, national parks and beloved public lands that might be next in line."

Scott Braden, the executive director of our friends the Southern Utah Wilderness Alliance, wrote a great piece on the effort in Congress to overturn the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument management plan.
