If you are waking up to the beautiful smell of roses today, you are probably one of the lucky people who got roses yesterday (Saturday) for Lions Rose Day. Rose Day was a huge success this year with over 200 dozen roses being delivered in our community. Through the generosity of several Lions and their friends we were also able to provide a dozen roses to each of the ladies at the Medina Nursing Center this year. Lions Rose Day in the Stateline Area helps to support the Center for Sight & Hearing in Rockford. Called "The House that Roses Built" this Center of Excellence for sight and hearing services, as well as a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit charity, provides important services to all in our community in need of these services. The Durand Lions Club will be selling Roses again this month as part of Lions Rose Day on April 11. The sale of these roses helps to support Lions Club activities in our community, as well as helping those in need of vision or hearing services.

Roses are $20 per dozen, and roses must be ordered by March 25. On April 11 our Lions will deliver these beautiful roses to you, or to someone who you designate. A great surprise for that “Someone Special” in your life, or just anyone who you would like to honor with this special gift.

Fall activities included Lions Candy Day, with members collecting donations throughout Durand, Lake Summerset, and local businesses. Community generosity once again made this important fundraiser a success.

November
As the holiday season approached, Lions launched new fundraising efforts to support upcoming community giving.

December
December highlighted the heart of Lionism. The first-ever 12 Days of Christmas Raffle sold out completely and supported the Durand Area Food Pantry, the Durand Ecumenical Council, and other local causes. Additional raffles, holiday food and cash collections at Cimino’s and Eliza’s, and a $1,500 donation to the Ecumenical Council helped support families during the Christmas season. Lions also gathered for fellowship at their annual Christmas party to celebrate another year of service together.

The Durand Lions Club extends heartfelt thanks to our community, volunteers, and sponsors — including Cimino’s Restaurant, Eliza’s Bar & Grill, Tempo Durand, State Bank of Davis, Solutions Bank, Durand Super Wash, Best Realty, Morgan Realty, and many others.

Because of you, we were able to give back all year long. Thank you for making 2025 a year to be proud of.

Youth safety and leadership took center stage. The Lions hosted a Kids Bicycle Rodeo and Safety Event, providing free helmets, bike safety checks, and raffling bicycles in partnership with The Bicycle Hub. Spirit of Lionism scholarships were awarded to Dakota High School students who exemplify leadership and service.

June & July
During the summer months, the Durand Lions Club proudly served as a Platinum Sponsor of the Durand 4th of July Festival, supporting a cherished community tradition that brings families together and celebrates the spirit of Durand.

January
The year began with a major community impact through the Queen of Hearts raffle, allowing the Lions to donate $10,000 to the Durand School Band. Lions also supported Hoo Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation with a donation to help cover winter utility costs. Student creativity was celebrated through the Peace Poster Contest.

February
Lions continued supporting education with a $1,000 donation to Durand Elementary School.

March
March was one of the busiest months of the year. The Lions donated $4,000 to support the Durand School Post-Prom, helping provide a safe celebration for students. Additional donations supported books, kitchen equipment, classroom puzzles, outdoor play equipment, and school drama programs throughout Durand and Dakota schools. March also marked the Queen of Hearts finale, with the jackpot reaching $263,000 thanks to tremendous community participation.

April
April focused on family and service. The annual Easter Egg Hunt at Nick Saelens Memorial Park welcomed families from across the area. Lions also supported Cub Scouts by helping provide new uniforms and donated essential supplies to the Veterans Drop-In Center in Rockford. Handwritten thank-you notes from students reminded us of the real impact behind the service.

Thanks to everyone who made the Durand Lions "12 Days of Christmas" a tremendous success. Because of the wonderful support of our community, the 50/50 raffle generated $6000. As with all fund-raisers, the Lion's portion of this will be used to support local projects.

The winning ticket for our 11th day drawing of our "12 Days of Christmas" raffle belonged to Randy R. He received $100.

Best Reality donated a $100 Cimino's gift card for a second chance drawing tonight. Kathy W. won the $100 gift card. Thank you to Scott Wilke and Best Reality for sponsoring tonight's second chance drawing.

Tonight (Monday) will be the final Day 12 of our drawing, and someone will win $1500. It should be a fun evening, come join us for all the excitement.

Monday night will also bring an end to our Food Pantry donations and White Ticket raffle. If you bring a food item or money donation for the Food Pantry to Cimino's or Eliza's before Monday night, you will get a Lions White Ticket. We will draw one of those White Tickets Monday night and that winner will get a $50 gift card to both Cimino's and Eliza's. Tickets will be drawn at 7:00 pm. Come early and have some great food and drink at Cimino's and Eliza's while you wait for the drawing.

Drawings will be held and livestreamed at Cimino's Durand at 7pm.

Let's finish strong - Monday, Dec 22, at 7pm will be the last drawing, at Cimino's, for White tickets given out for Food Pantry donations. There is still time to get your ticket. The winning ticket for our 10th day drawing of the "12 Days of Christmas" raffle belonged to Dena K. She received $100.

Mike from Durand Super Wash donated six (6) car was tokens for a second chance drawings tonight. The winners of the car washes were Kelly J., Chris P., Gary T., Dave H., Elizabeth B., and Sue C. Thank you to Mike and Durand Super Wash for sponsoring tonight's second chance drawings.

Because of the cold weather this past week many people were not able to drop off food or make a donation to the Food Pantry for a White Ticket. So, we decided to put all of the White Tickets back into the box and extend our Food Pantry donations at Cimino's and Eliza's until next Monday. - - if you bring a food item or money donation for the Food Pantry to Cimino's or Eliza's this week, you will get a Lions White Ticket. We will draw one of those White Tickets next Monday night and that winner will get a $50 gift card to both Cimino's and Eliza's. Tickets will be drawn at 7:00 pm. Come early and have some great food and drink at Cimino's and Eliza's while you wait for the drawing.

Lions and Packers and Bears, Oh My, what a Game!! After being behind the whole game, the Bears tie the score with an onside kick and then win the game in overtime. And to add to the excitement at Cimino's, Da Coach was there to pull the winning ticket for us. The first ticket pulled was an orange ticket, and that ticket belonged to Curt K. Curt won $1690, half of the $3380 Jackpot. Thanks to everyone who played our game and supported the Lions. Go Bears!!
