A long-awaited and dignified arrival took place in Durand as the community welcomed home World War II veteran Shirl P. Best nearly 80 years after his death overseas.

A huge thank you to Brad and the American Legion Riders for their recent donation for our holiday food boxes! The Riders are a fairly new group of veteran bikers that fundraise to help their community. Thank you to Brad and the Riders for their service and supporting our pantry and our community!

********LOCAL HERO RETURNS HOME ********
A local hero is returning home to Durand. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, November 8th, in the Durand High School gymnasium to honor Flight Officer Shirl P. Best who gave his life for our Country during World War II. Visitation at the High School will begin at 10:30 AM. At Noon a Memorial Service will be held, followed by graveside services at Durand Township Cemetery.
All are encouraged to attend the Service to honor one of the "Gold Stars" our Post is dedicated to as he, at long last, returns to his hometown.
