Power up x100!
Mami-okusama’s Anpanman bento
(originally posted in Japanese on May 20, 2026)
Can you believe it! Japan’s favorite anime character Anpanman appears together with Komusubiman (literally “Little Rice Ball Man”) and Omusubiman (literally “Rice Ball Man”)!
For Mikoto-sama’s 3rd birthday, an Anpanman made from daikon mochi made an appearance. But this time marks his very first deco-ben (decorative character bento).
We heard that Masaaki-sama and Mami-okusama’s three children were absolutely delighted.
It’s a wonderfully cute-looking bento, but what struck this reporter most is how Anpanman—literally “red-bean bread man”—is depicted with RICE instead of bread. It felt like an embodiment of Masaaki-sama’s will—he is always talking about rice over bread.
Rather than bread and coffee, eat rice and miso soup! With this as our motto, let us continue pressing forward together in practicing and spreading the Christian Vegan Diet established and advocated by Masaaki-sama!
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Mami-okusama’s vegan bento—the ultimate handmade bento, rooted in prayer and Japan’s climate and terrain.
🌿 100% pure vegan—made without any animal-derived ingredients
Completely free of meat, seafood, eggs, dairy, and even honey.
A bento filled with kindness, expressing respect for all life.
❄ Zero store-bought frozen foods/prepared dishes
🤲 Everything is handmade
Focusing not on convenience, but on genuine flavor.
Each item is carefully prepared to bring out the natural taste of the ingredients.
A bento filled with the warmth and love of home.
🚫 No added sugars of any kind—including white sugar or artificial sweeteners
Bringing out the natural sweetness of the ingredients, for a pure, clean flavor.
We value the natural sweetness that is gentle on both body and mind.
✨ Completely free of additives
The beauty of nature itself, without relying on preservatives, artificial colors, or artificial seasonings.
We are committed to purity—this is the food we eat every day.
🌱 Uses Christ Farming produce whenever possible
Christ Farming as established and advocated by Masaaki-sama, originator of Christian Veganism.
Through the Holy Spirit that descended on the day of Pentecost after the resurrection of Jesus, all creation was renewed.
Reliance on pesticides, fertilizers or animal-derived materials are no longer needed—the soil itself will grow crops.
We believe in Jesus, whose presence is alive in the soil and nature.
🍚 Uses rice cooked in a clay pot
Every morning, in the early hours, the rice is 30% polished. In every single grain of rice dwells Mami-okusama’s faith.
Cooked to a soft, fluffy texture with the power of earth and fire, the rice has an exceptional aroma, natural sweetness, and vitality.
🇯🇵 Meals rooted in the seasons, climate and terrain of Japan
Built around seasonal vegetables, seaweed, and traditional ingredients.
A distinctly Japanese vegan bento that embraces the spirit of shindo-fuji (the principle that the body and land are inseparable, that seasonal and local eating rooted in the climate and terrain of where one lives is the most beneficial for health and well-being).
✝ A meal rooted in the belief that Christ Jesus was the last and ultimate sacrifice
Based on the principle established and advocated by her husband, Masaaki-sama: “Christ Jesus was the last and ultimate sacrifice—so it is no longer necessary to eat a diet that comes with the suffering of animals.”
A Christian Vegan bento made with Jesus in mind.
The entire bento is filled with true peace.
💐 More than just a meal: a bento that reflects a way of life
Keeping Jesus in mind, honoring nature, caring for the body, and giving thanks for life—this is a special bento box filled with Mami-okusama’s love and devotion.

*30% polished rice cooked in a clay pot (250g) 🍚
This beloved Anpanman has been depicted in not bread, but rice.
His facial expression was made with nori, our homemade pickled plums matured for three years and freshly toasted sesame seeds, with Omusubiman and Komusubiman arranged alongside him.
Rice is the very foundation of the Japanese vegan diet that Masaaki-sama guides us on!
And it is rice too, that gives us energy, power x100!
Just as Anpanman shares pieces of himself with those in need, we hope that through the cultivation of rice that Masaaki-sama so boldly guides us on, we can share rice throughout Japan, and in doing so, bring energy and vitality to the whole country. This is the wish woven into this bento.
*Miso soup
Made with seasonal vegetables, always with seaweed added as well.
*Mozuku (a thin, slippery brown seaweed often eaten with vinegar) and grilled onion tossed in pickled plum ginger soy sauce
We were fortunate enough to use precious, naturally harvested fresh mozuku, generously given to us by a member. We are deeply grateful.
The onion is grilled in a clay pot to bring out its natural sweetness, and combined with mozuku, pickled plum, ginger, and soy sauce in an exquisite balance—utterly delicious. Freshly toasted sesame seeds are generously mixed in as well.
*Stir-fried wood ear mushroom and wakame with ginger
A dish we have shared with everyone previously.
Crunch, crunch, crunch ♪
*Simmered butterbur (fuki)
A springtime treat, gently slow-simmered in a clay pot. It has a warm, comforting flavor that melts the heart.
*Butterbur leaf tsukudani (simmered in soy sauce)
Topped with freshly toasted sesame seeds.
A dish where you can truly savor the pleasant bitterness unique to spring.
※Butterbur must have its bitterness removed before eating. Roll it in salt (a method called “itazuri”), parboil in salted water, then soak in water to draw out the bitterness.
Eat rice and power up x100! Mami-okusama’s super cute vegan bento, no. 55
Likes, saves, shares and reposts are most welcome! ✨

About Mami-okusama (Mami Okada)
Mami-okusama was born in Aichi Prefecture and was raised in a farming household. Also known as Japan’s Vegan Beauty, she is the mother of three children and the wife of and Aide to Masaaki-sama (Masaaki Okada), World Church of Messiah’s Representative of Kyoshu. She is a vegan cuisine specialist, focusing on the Japanese vegan diet. She works tirelessly unlike anyone else in the practice and spread of the Christian Vegan Diet that is Masaaki-sama’s revolutionary message: “Christ Jesus was the last and ultimate sacrifice—so it is no longer necessary to eat a diet that comes with the suffering of animals.” As a part of that effort, and with the wish for children to know what true food is, she conducts charitable activities such as hands-on rice ball-making workshops at places like children’s homes throughout Japan. She is the first in the world to establish the “vegan deco ben” (vegan decorative bento) and “vegan kyara ben” (vegan character bento) genres, using only plant-derived ingredients. Not only are they beautiful to the eye, through the creation of these bento and her many original recipes in line with what Masaaki-sama teaches on the truth of food, that seasonal and local eating rooted in the climate and terrain of Japan is the most beneficial for health and well-being—that is, to eat what grows in one’s local region—she seeks to spread the Christian Vegan Diet, the true healthy diet. She graduated from University of Tsukuba. During her studies there, she became actively involved in volunteer activities such as refugee support. She was also repeatedly asked to participate in the Miss Tsukuba Contest and was approached by many modeling agencies, but she declined all of these offers as she wanted to focus on refugee support activities. In recognition of her efforts in refugee support, she received the University of Tsukuba President’s Award in 2012. She is licensed to teach English at the junior and senior high school levels. After graduating from university, she began working for World Church of Messiah in 2013 and married in 2014.
