DADVOCATES from Fathers Incorporated and 4Kira4Moms/4Kira4Dads took our maternal health agenda straight to Capitol Hill last week! In addition to focusing on moms, we advocated for father-inclusive strategies that care for and protect the entire family. ❤️

We appreciate Senator Reverend Raphael Warnock and Senator Jon Ossoff
(and their staffs!) for the opportunity to speak candidly about steps to confront racial health disparities and eradicate maternal mortality. 👊

These meetings with our elected officials were part of the 3rd Annual “Dads Got Something to Say! Congressional Briefing,” organized by Healthy Moms Healthy Babies America. Kudos for recognizing that a father’s love is a protective factor!

As we celebrate Juneteenth, we’re reminded that freedom isn’t only a historical event. It’s a daily practice found in the ways families love, teach, guide, correct, affirm, and prepare children for the world.

Black fathers have always been part of that freedom work: https://bit.ly/43X5eTt

Father involvement benefits multiple aspects of child well-being, family stability, and public safety. However, when we FUND FATHERHOOD, we treat it like a short-term initiative assigned to specific agencies or narrow grant categories. It’s a contradiction we must confront: https://bit.ly/4vkoR3B

We’re NOT asking permission. We’re NOT waiting for consensus. And we’re NOT soft launching the idea. We’re declaring it with clarity, conviction, and purpose: JUNE IS NATIONAL FATHERHOOD MONTH!

If fathers matter, then systems MUST behave like they do. 👊

We visited advocates in New York recently for the state’s fatherhood convening hosted by New York State Office of Children and Family Services. The message for the responsible fatherhood field and agencies that serve families? Success doesn’t mean building more fatherhood programs. Success means creating conditions where fathers, families, children, and communities thrive.

We published a recap of the event at our Dads Pad Blog. Check it out here: https://bit.ly/4xo3lwU
