We had an amazing Friends & Family First Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, June 14th at St. Patrick's Episcopal Church in Dunwoody, GA. Thank you to Rotary Club of Dunwoody for being with us in such meaningful and helpful ways since the idea stage. So proud of how we've collaborated to launch & sustain a community space for people living with dementia to enjoy creative social-recreational programming while their care partners get a much needed break.

September was a joyous month at Anchor Place! We had a blast helping do some prep for Oktoberfest then participating at an event tent. Thank you to our talented artists and generous businesses -- including E. 48th Street Market and Left Coast Coffee -- who donated to the silent auction. It was a great success!

Throughout the month we polka'd, painted, played games, celebrated, discussed, and laughed. We also prayed for all the folks impacted by the recent hurricanes and who are experiencing health challenges. So grateful to everyone who participates in and supports Anchor Place.

Happy July 4th Week! Anchor Place's opening weeks were filled with much laughter, learning, and friendships. We were thrilled to help our friends at Dunwoody Rotary create their 4th of July Parade Float entry. We filled over 30 goody bags for parade walkers to hand out to children and constructed part of the float.

Our first volunteer training was a huge success! Thanks to the wonderful folks who have raised their hands to join our volunteer team. We learned so much from Daphne Johnston, CEO and Founder of The Respite for All Foundation. Our volunteers soaked in the learning about common dementias, communication techniques, and creating a fun, hospitable environment. We are one step closer to opening our doors to our first participants very soon. Stay tuned!

We were thrilled to host Daphne Johnston for this community-wide educational event. So many Dunwoody neighbors showed up to learn more about how we can all better understand the experiences of people living with dementia and their carepartners. Daphne gave an outstanding presentation, filled with hope and practical tips for all. We cannot wait to open our doors in Dunwoody!!
