We keep shrinking the word “peace.” 🕯️

When Scripture says peace, we tend to hear “calm down” or “stop fighting.” But the Hebrew shalom means so much more. Theologian Cornelius Plantinga describes it as God, people, and all creation knit back together — justice, flourishing, wholeness, and delight. Everything set right.

And here’s the phrase we can’t get past: shalom is “the way things ought to be.” 🙌

Not the way things are. Not a ceasefire you white-knuckle. Not just quiet in your own head. The way things ought to be — and the direction Jesus is already moving everything, including you.

So when we say “go in peace,” we’re not wishing you a nap. We’re blessing you toward wholeness. ✨

What happens when the storm within replaces shalom? ⛈️

This week, we turn to David and Nathan in 2 Samuel 12: one story, one hard truth, and one of the bravest sentences in the Bible.

Join us this Sunday morning as Dr. Zane McGee continues our Anchored in Shalom series.

Zane holds a Ph.D. in New Testament from Emory University and serves as both an assistant professor and Director of the Halbert Center for Missions at Abilene Christian University.

He and his family have been part of North Atlanta for over a decade, and we are grateful to have him preaching on Sunday. 💙

Thank you for supporting our American Red Cross blood drive last Sunday! ❤️

Together we collected 26 units of blood, enough to save as many as 78 lives!

Thanks to everyone who donated, to our volunteers who welcomed donors and kept the day running smoothly, and to all who prayed and encouraged others to give.

You showed us what it looks like to be a Love First church. 🙌

🕯️ Two brothers. Twenty years apart. And God was working on both sides of the river. ⛰️

Jacob spent all those years sure Esau was still the man he'd wronged. 😰 But while Jacob dreaded the crossing, Esau was being changed — coming to know a God better than he'd ever known Him. 🙏

So when they finally meet… Jacob looks into his brother's face and sees the face of God. 😭✨

The person you're bracing to face again? God may have been meeting them the whole time you weren't watching. 💛
