THIS SATURDAY: The candles will be flickering on a crisp, clear autumn evening at the Little Red Schoolhouse, as you enter the haunting world of 19th-century New England through the words of regional writer Sarah Orne Jewett. In this atmospheric theatrical presentation, you’ll meet a family ensnared by a generations-old curse, a mysterious stranger who unsettles a quiet town, and an enigmatic old woman who may – or may not – be immortal.
Featuring Rita Parisi of Waterfall Productions and funded by a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council, we hope to see you there...

It's bacccccckkkk!
🍎On Saturday, August 9th the Tyngsboro-Dunstable Historical Society will offer an opportunity for children and adults to learn just how complex and difficult it was to live on a farm in our early days.
🍎From 1:00 to 4:00 on August 9th inquisitive persons of any age can learn how to do the daily chores assigned to children and then actually do them!
🍎Ten different events will range from using a two man saw to making matches to carry flames to lanterns (which you can make), weaving rugs to cover the rough floors of a farmhouse, husking corn and slathering it with butter you made, try your hand at colonial carpentry using the tools of the day, talk with a Minuteman/farmer as he tries to decide should he remain and protect his family or should he leave it all behind to fight for freedom.
🍎As if a child’s day was not full enough, they will also go to school and there will meet the Schoolmaster who has very strict rules and expectations!
🍎The program will take place at the little red schoolhouse on Rte. 113 while across the street, the Dunstable Rural Land Trust will present programs depicting farm life and showing how the skills a child learned were put to practical use.
🍎This wonderful afternoon will give every visitor a lively view of the history of our community. It makes no difference where you start, where you may linger or what skip if you wish, but don’t miss it altogether!
