Things have been happening with our 30’ bottomless stock tank. A few weeks ago, Craig and Carol Thompson brought in two large dump truck loads of dirt and dumped as much as possible into the tank. Soon after Tyler Teahon stopped by with his skid steer and picked up the dirt that didn’t make it into the tank. Today, Greg and Mellissa Freeman came by, moved the three bottom plow out of the way, moved the dirt in that location. Greg then put his skid steer inside the tank and leveled all that soil. We are so thankful to all that are helping us achieve our goal with this tank. Eventually horse drawn machine will be displayed here.

It has been decided that we travel across Blaine County featuring rural "Yard of the Week", this summer.
The first stop is at the Woodlin, along the banks of the North Loup River.
This tranquil hideaway belongs to Mike & Linn Baxter.
In 2006 a tornado destroyed and damaged many of Cottonwoods on this property.
The Baxter's have worked tirelessly to make improvements not just to the cabin but the entire property by removing unwanted trees, sowing grass seed, mowing and general upkeep of the acreage.
This was once the home of Ed and Pearl McCormick.
If you remember the "Hideout" you will know this location.

The cutest visitor, Olivia and her mom Angie stopped on their trip home. Olivia has a great interest in museums and had asked to stop. She looked around and had questions as well as knowledge about history for her age. She goes to the Knights Museum regularly. Thanks for stopping, I enjoyed your visit and hope you did too!

This afternoon the museum had several visitors. Each came in for a different reason but our small museum had what they were searching for or recalled a memory or brought a smile to each.

First were Connie and David Hansen with their friend Connie Bottorf. They were out for a drive and saw the museum was open. The Hansens years ago choose to donate to the museum and wanted to see its progress and show their friend. They really enjoyed the Trail of Moccasins Exhibit.

Second were Holly, Ed Tallis and their Granddaughter. Holly wanted to look at the Nebraska Brand books in search of family brand information. She didn’t find her original subject but did find a brand that she hadn’t known about. Holly is on the committee for the Arnold Museum and we discussed their project and our museum. We will be watching their progress and touring it when they open.
Their Granddaughter was delighted to see a horse/Hereford figurine on display. She has one just like that her Granny from Seneca gave her.

Third was Richard Prinie a former Dunning resident whose family lived in a house just west of the Post Office. He said their house at one time was a shoe store. Richard was looking for pictures of the Dunning School. I wasn’t able to find one but got out the annuals and he found himself and 2 siblings.

Fourth was Marilyn Prinie Smith youngest sister of Richard. Both of them had traveled to Dunning to attend Graveside Services for Alwilda “Arlene” Prinie at the Dunning Cemetery. After talking to Richard she came after the service to see the annuals. While looking at the school displays she was excited to see a school book. It was the first time she saw a picture of an Alpaca and Llama. She told her Dad that she would have some of them someday. She fulfilled that dream as an adlut.

The museum will be open tomorrow all day and Sunday afternoon. Who knows what you might see!

The museum is open this Sunday afternoon. Stop by to learn about the Your Parks Adventure. Our museum is one of 50 sights across Nebraska to visit for an educational tour. Wonder Nebraska, Nebraska 250 and the Nebraska Game & Parks have joined to make this an exciting and truly fun event throughout the summer. We have the "selfie sign" for you to show that you have indeed, visited our museum.

We have a new display in progress. An antique New Home treadle sewing machine is on loan at the museum. These two ladies have spent hours bringing it back to what it once was! See how it works in the comments. The goal is to have enough blocks made by volunteers and visitors to make a “friendship quilt “ by summers end.

The Iris are blooming at the museum. These plants originated from an old homestead situated between Dunning and Halsey. They were relocated to the museum several years ago. They are thriving. Many of the homesteads had Iris and Lilacs.
