This is a perfect example of the Friends of the Dunlap Public Library and the Dunlap Public Library partnering to enrich the lives of our community. The Friends first got the idea to do this when a member saw the little library at the Peoria Police Department totally empty. Friends members cleaned it up and began to fill it regularly. The Friends felt if a young person is in the lobby of the police department it's not a comfortable time and perhaps a book would help ease the stress of the situation for them. Judging by the number of books, at least 500, that have left this little library we believe we are making a difference.
We are very appreciative of our library saving children's and YPL books for this little library when it comes time to make room for new ones! We also appreciate how welcoming the PPD has been with our project!
