Today is Memorial Day, a day to express gratitude and reverence for those who have sacrificed their lives to serve the nation.

It’s also a day that Scouts BSA Troop 40 - Dunlap, Illinois dedicates to remembrance and appreciation for the freedoms that we enjoy. Our Troop 40 and siblings from Mossville Troop 5050G Scouts do this by participating in the Memorial Day service at St. Clement’s Cemetery. This annual event symbolizes our gratitude and respect for our fallen heroes and their sacrifice.

Did you know Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was a Scout? Records show he was registered with Troop 151 in Atlanta, Georgia. Throughout his life, he continued to live out the Scout Oath and Law in so many ways and left a legacy of kindness, compassion, determination and inspiration.

We are honored to be a part of the organization that helped shape him into an outstanding leader.

The Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade is only 10 days away. Snoopy, who is the longest-running character balloon in the parade, will be joined by his best buddy Woodstock to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Beagle Scouts' first appearance in Charles M. Schulz's comic strip.

Units may want to share this information with their Scout families to take advantage of this exposure.

🇺🇸Never Forget🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember a day that forever changed the landscape of our nation - September 11, 2001. We honor the courage and strength of the first responders, the resilience of our country, and remember those we lost.

In Scouts, we pledge to be brave, to help others at all times, and to do our duty to our country. Today, these commitments are brought into sharp focus as we reflect on the selfless heroism of that fateful day.

May we always carry the spirit of unity, compassion, and resilience in our hearts and actions. Never forget.

Troop 40 Dunlap is ready to celebrate DHS’ Homecoming Parade later this week with BEADS GALORE!

Scouts assembled their Troop 40 branded beads. There were lots of smiles and silly laughs at tonight’s meeting. There was even a quick pop culture lesson after one of the Scouts asked curiously, “Who is Mr. T?” 😁

We’re looking forward to seeing everyone this Thursday at the parade! 😎⚜️
