Wonder What City Property Taxes Actually Pay For?

The City receives 23¢ of every property tax dollar. For FY 2026, that's approximately $18 million that funds the services you see and use every day.
Here's where it goes:
🚔 Law Enforcement - $6.2M Pinellas County Sheriff deputies dedicated to Dunedin, Community Policing Officers, school resource officers, event security
🚒 Fire & Emergency Services - $13.8M Dunedin Fire Rescue, Emergency Medical Services, fire prevention, disaster response
🌳 Parks & Recreation - $17.4M 37 parks, athletic facilities, Highlander Pool, recreation programs, community events, facility maintenance
🛣️ Roads & Streets - $2.1M Road maintenance and repairs, sidewalk repairs, street lighting, traffic signals
📚 Library Services - $3.5M Your public library, programs, technology access, community resources
You can see our public safety services (police + fire/EMS = $20M) cost more than all property tax revenue ($18M). The gap is covered by other City revenues.
This means property taxes don't fully cover emergency services—much less parks, roads, the Library – the amenities that make Dunedin Delightful.
