Many of you know that I am relocating to Great Falls, Montana, to be closer to my dad. With my mom passing away a couple of months ago, my dad has been struggling, and my family could really use my help. After a lot of prayers, tears, and advice, I made the decision to move back home. I will be leaving in August.

With that being said, according to FSA bylaws, I can no longer serve as President of the FSA. The President, Treasurer, and Secretary must be Florida residents, so I met with the Board this evening and submitted my resignation.

The Board accepted my resignation and then accepted the nomination of Tyson Trias to complete the remainder of my two-year term. The vote was unanimous, and Tyson will finish my tenure as President.

Tyson then asked the Board to consider me for the Vice President role so that I could continue supporting him and the organization. The Board once again voted unanimously, and I am honored to continue serving as the FSA's Vice President.

Over the years, I have worked with numerous individuals and organizations, and I can honestly say that this Board is the most competent, dedicated, and supportive group I have ever had the privilege of serving with. They make Board work fun, and I love every single one of them. Thank you, Becky Wissink, Alysha Corrigan, Rich Gideon, Russell Lee Overton Jr, Jason Richards, Ethan Albrecht-Carrie, Chad Davis, and Tyson Trias, for your hard work and friendship!

To all the athletes: thank you for being my family away from home. You guys helped carry me through some dark times like the passing of athlete and my best friend, Anik Pepin, and celebrated with me when we were awarded the 2024 Scottish Highland Games Masters World Championships. Thank you for the memories, the adventures, the laughter, and even the tears. You have made a lasting impact on my life, and I will always be grateful.

I plan to visit at least once a year—most likely for Dunedin—to help Rich. We can always use more judges at Dunedin!

If you ever want to visit "God's County", you have a place to stay!

Throw far and high.

With much love,
Dawn

Congratulations to Jason Richard and Pat Brown!

Invitations have been extended to the top athletes in their respective divisions for the prestigious 160th Annual Scottish Highland Gathering & Games in Pleasanton, California, and the Foundation for Scottish Athletics is proud to announce that our own Jason Richards and Pat Brown have been invited to compete!

This invitation is a tremendous honor and reflects the dedication, hard work, and athletic excellence both competitors have demonstrated on the field.

Pat Brown will also be making history, as 2026 marks the first year that Lightweight athletes will have their own division at Pleasanton, providing an exciting opportunity for lightweight competitors to showcase their talents on one of the most respected stages in Highland athletics.

The 160th Annual Scottish Highland Gathering & Games will be held Labor Day Weekend, September 5–6, at the Alameda County Fairgrounds, California.
We are incredibly proud of Jason and Pat and honored that they will represent Florida athletes and the Foundation for Scottish Athletics at one of the oldest and most prestigious Highland Games in North America.

Please join us in congratulating them and wishing them the very best as they prepare to compete against some of the finest athletes in the sport!

The FSA is genuinely going to miss these two amazing athletes — Nix and Nick Richards. ❤️

Both are known throughout the Florida Highland Games community for bringing laughter, friendship, encouragement, and just plain fun to every field they step onto. From Nix’s bright hats and colorful accessories to Nick’s legendary bear hugs and contagious laughter, these two have helped make our games feel like family.

Nix recently received an incredible job opportunity, and the two are packing up their gear and heading to the Pacific Northwest for their next adventure.

While we are excited for this new chapter in their lives, they will absolutely be missed here in Florida. Thank you both for the memories, the smiles, and the joy you brought to our community. Safe travels and good luck on your next journey!

Memorial patches are in for Logan Richards. Chuck Hallmark will be taking them to Ocala for me tomorrow (Friday). If you would like a patch to place on your kilt before Logan’s Celebration of Life on the 30th, please connect with Chuck or Tyson.

I’m sorry that I’m unable to attend. I actually turn 60 on the 30th, and I recently found out some friends had already planned a birthday celebration for me that day.

The patches are iron-on. To apply, use a standard iron on the “Wool” setting (approximately 300°F) and press from the backside of the fabric for best results.

We will also have additional patches available at our next Highland Games event in Deltona.

And for those of you who may not know, Noah and his brothers are also Highland Games athletes.

There’s a whole lot of talent in our Highland Games family — on and off the field.

From throwing heavy events to making incredible music, it’s amazing seeing our community support each other in so many different ways.

We are asking athletes from across the community to come out, stand together, and help show Logan’s family just how much he meant to all of us on and off the field.

Wear your kilts, or simply come as yourself — just as Logan would have wanted. This is about community, love, remembrance, and honoring one of our own.

05/13/2026

At the Team Shenanigan Games, we honored one of our own with a Memorial Caber Toss for Logan Richards. ❤️

Athletes gathered together to celebrate Logan’s life, his love for the Highland Games, and the impact he made on our community.

Forever on the field.
